funspot vs cal extreme

funspot may not have all the strange protos, but they have such a huge collection of all the fun, enjoyable games and are on coin play not free play. also absent are a million people crammed together and the excessive body odor. but honestly it's apples and oranges as one's a year-round arcade run by an experienced operator and the other is a weekend expo organized by collectors. cax does have the excitement factor going, and there'll be tons of like-minded collectors there so it's also a very social event.

Having been to both many times, I'd go for Fun Spot. I love the atmosphere of Fun Spot and the surrounding area. If you if have a tight schedule like I do, Fun Spot is open all the time unlike Cal EX, so you can make plans to go on your schedule.

I've been to both. And agree with Yaggy. They are both great, but different.

That said, I plan to be at Funspot again before CAX, since I'm on the east coast.

One of these days I have to get up to Fun Spot to check it out.

It's hard to top CAX, though. Last year we had over 500 games there. Really looking forward to CAX this summer.

im looking forward to either one. i've been a full time caregiver for my grandmother since 2005 and only had 20 days off to myself. when she was well, she asked if i would take care of her. i did it for as long as i could and now im looking to reward myself with a juno first, minty zoo keeper or something special !
i've been told caregiving can be the most depressing job and belive me, i know it first hand!!!
i don't regret it-- it really opens your eyes to what life is all about.

I met Ram Dass right after he wrote a book called "How Can I Help" about his caregiving experience. Basically it says what you just said, opens your eyes to what life is all about.

Been to Funspot for the past three annual tourneys. The Scoring system that Dave Hernley of Aurcade came up with is worth the trip alone.

But this time around I am skipping the lovely New England charm for the California Sunshine!

Cannot wait for my first trip to CAX,

Jow, get ready to party NJ style!

Cool, I finally get to meet you. Just wish it could have been at one of the tournaments at your place. I'll spot you some drinks since you had the coolest arcade around. I'll bring a well stocked cooler as usual.
