Funny Jungle Hunt sign story from back in the day...
Back around 1982 or 1983, when I went with my parents to visit my dad's family in Cedartown Georgia on weekends, I would go to check out the video games in the area near their house. In the "early" days, there was a small arcade in an old gas station that was just around the corner from their house. I only went there once or twice, because I believe it was relatively short lived, and it contained a LOT of early black and white Atari games like "Drag Race", etc. At some point in time, I also stopped by a "dollar store" type place that had a couple of games in it, and it was the ONLY place where I ever saw a "Mouse Trap" machine in operation.
A little while later, a "Proper" arcade was opened in a strip mall located directly across the (main) street from the original one. I can remember going in there and playing Crystal Castles and Mario Brothers wide body back when they were brand new. It was a really neat place to go whenever we were visiting with my grandparents, but I think that I was only allowed to go there just a few times before it closed.
One time when we were visiting, the arcade had one of those big lighted "arrow" pointing signs up by the side of the main road that were commonplace back then. It was put there to "announce" what "new" games they had in that they wanted to feature. Apparently, they had recently purchased a "Jungle Hunt" machine, but some wise ass removed the "H" and replaced it with a "C" from another part of the sign. I saw this from the car when we were driving by, but had to keep it to myself, because I didn't want my parents to known that I knew what it meant...
