Funny how arcade game and car hobbies cross over.

Here's my VW 411 I'm restoring. I'm not much of a car person, but I'd much rather prefer anything of the 70s and 80s than anything now. That being said:

The back can fit anything up to 67 inches.
Hey, I saw a Pinto at a car show a couple weekends ago. Even the run-of-the-mill cars become cool eventually.

Pintos are neat but the 411 doesn't commit explosion when rear ended. This type of car was most typical in Germany and somewhat in Canada, so it's a little bit of a rarity.

I think I'd like to get some old 70s British license plates to put on it, but I need to familiarize myself with those laws here about doing that. I heard it's possible as long as the real current plate is somewhere in the back. I don't know if I'd have to display it though a window or I can keep it tucked away, but I'll figure it out when I'm finished with the vehicle.

When I first got my crown vic I entered it in a car show. Stood out quite a bit among the Mustangs and all the fancy cars but people absolutely loved that thing. Sometimes it seems people enjoy the different cars that you wouldn't expect to see there

Noone here will let you win in a car show unless you've spent $100k on paint and tweaks. I hate northern DE.

I got told "you don't qualify" it when I showed up at classic car night at a local restaurant with my Malibu for that same reason

I finally stopped taking my truck to cruises. I just take it to trunk or treats, now.
I just wound up not going back to that restaurant. I did find another place that does the classic car night thing that was actually ok with me being there so I wound up just going to that one instead

I'm not as much of a car guy as my dad was (he had many) but here's my 66 mustang I've had since '87. I love working on it. And it's a daily driver. My 86 harley fxrc probably qualifies for this thread too. I inherited it from my dad (I have another harley too). And while I'm at it, my crown jewel of my gun collection that I inherited from my dad which is a Colt 1903 made in 1906, which got me into reloading since it uses obsolete ammo (38 auto).

Beautiful car and color!! Tell me more about daily driving it, how far/for how long, etc.

Funny, maybe it's the shows but I've been to several Mopar shows where anything wins. I've won with my 20' 69 Charger and a buddy won an award from some Chrysler reps for his 69 Roadrunner and it moves (or did) with a gas can in front of the rad. LOL. He's the original owner and street raced it BITD. Still had the tow chains in the trunk that he used to tow other cars that had some sort of mechanical home.

Man was the guy next to me pissed my heap won and not his car.

Just depends on the folks.

Okay I'll share too...

I was never a car guy until I started working on arcade cabinets. I guess one day I must have fixed all my games and needed to get my fix of cursing at and smacking machines that don't work properly. Also, my 2006 Honda Civic that I just finished paying off got rear ended and totaled and I knew I didn't want a new car that's more computer than car. I wanted something classic that I could tinker with.

I bought it a little over 3 years ago and I think it's finally at a point that I can consider it a daily driver. I drove it nearly 3 hours to get it home and as soon as I did the thing basically started falling apart from the inside out to the point that I consider it a miracle I even got it home in one piece.

I think the stupidest thing that I dealt with working on this car was that about a year after I got it, it wouldn't start reliably after sitting for a bit. Replaced a bunch of parts myself and took it to a few mechanics who all replaced more parts chasing the issue and nobody could figure it out. The last mechanic basically said, "we give up, good luck". I got home and went to go start checking sensors and before I even pulled one of them, I check the cable for the cold start injector and one of the terminal pins was recessed into the housing and not making contact. I'm like... there's no way... fix up the cable, plug it in and the thing fires right up instantly. I couldn't believe it. This was a few weeks ago and I've been happy as a clam driving around with the top down while there's still a little bit of summer left. :)

Thanks! Not as much as I used to since my job went full time remote, but it's my primary vehicle. Also have my 2 harleys which I mix in during good weather, and an old jeep which currently I only really use when I go out to the state forest for target shooting but I drive it occasionally around town so it doesn't sit unused for long. So all told, "daily driver" probably is less accurate of a term in the last few years than "primary vehicle". But it's been my primary vehicle since I bought it in '87.

I sold an engine today to an older gentleman who is a huge motor head. He needed a pair of gloves to lift the engine so I told him c'mon up to the garage, I have a pair.

The door opened and I said oh, this is my other hobby. He just stood there with his mouth hanging open. 🤣 I said yeah I have a bit of a problem.... he said "dude you have my WHOLE CHILDHOOD in your garage!!" He proceeded to say how he previously owned a pin and a juke, which he ended up selling for car parts. The crossover is always great to see!!
I can vouch for that it doesent take us gearheads very long before we want a game or a juke or a pin🤣

Cars I've owned

65 Mustang
65 Fairlane
66 Fairlane Convertible
86 Corvette
55 Ford Wagon
03 Supercharged Mini Cooper
85 Fiero Gt x2

I currently drive an 07 Porsche Boxster
And I'm fixing a 04 Beetle convertible for my daughter.

This is an original 1932 Ford Delivery truck. They wanted $8500 for it. I loved it!! Imagine pulling up to pick up arcade games with that 😆
