So in my arcade we recently got a Tekken 5 and it's very much more modern than all our other games since it's a retro arcade kind of thing. I was bragging to a friend about how much it made and he asked me today how it's going and I said it was a lot less.

So later in the afternoon some kid said he lost a quarter in it (it's ok he also played Sea Wolf a lot so I forgive the Tekken play) .. I opened the door and gave him a few credits. After it died down enough for me to look at the coin mech, I took it out and 4.60 fell on the floor. Why would people not tell me if something was jammed? There was a cough drop wrapper jammed into there. And who tried a dime?

Lazy? They ask themselves if it's worth it for them to bug you that they lost a quarter. I like people who try it a couple more times, like it's going to magically start working.

I got a game from a local op that both coin mechs were stuffed with quarters. I hope that is not why they pulled it off location. There must've been over $10 in there.

I hate little kids comming to me saying "That game over there ate my quarter." There are two reasons for this, the first being that they never say which machine until after they announced that they lost a quarter, and two, more often than not the mechs are clear of obstruction and the box empty so said quarter was non existant. I did however find $3.15 in my simpsons bowling because of a jammed mech! I can't stand it when they dont bother to tell me it took money!

I used to get crap like that all the time when I worked the bowling alley arcade. People would put tokens from the competition or Canadian quarters in the games. The tokens would sometimes pass through the mech but the Canadians stick to the magnet and jam the mech. During cosmic bowling tickets would be handed out for a drawing of some kind. Some of the jackasses that didn't win would put their tickets into the coin slots of random games, causing them to jam.

Had a couple of break ins as well. Somebody pried the top glass loose on a Big Haul and scooped the quarters out of the trucks. Another time they broke into the Cyclone but hit the wrong door and only got to the tickets.

Did he crooks come in to redeem them for the big prize?

Wow!

If they want a free game, they should just use washers or the negative reel on the old camera's like I did.
Hah... I used to use washers on the Coke machine at high school. I would press the coin return and then buy food with the money it gave me.

Another trick we figured out (which no longer works) is that if you stuck two 5 cent pieces together, the machine would think it was $2. I am willing to bet that this would still work on most arcade machines but I have not tried it.

don't forget...

Pushing a penny up the coin return on space invaders (and other games w that coin door) to get a credit. This is what caused the ops/manufacturers to start putting the flap/door on the coin return!

I once found a razor blade jammed in one of my coin mechs.

Bastages I tell you!
