Going to start this thread to pop off random questions I run into while doing a playfield swap on my Funhouse. These will probably be mostly general questions anyone who has done a playfield swap could answer, but some (like the first one) will be specific to the IPB Funhouse repro playfield.

So far I have the following:

1.) While reinstalling the trap door, I noticed the IPB repro is not dimpled for the screws that go through the trap door floor plastic. Before I go and really fuck up, is there some reason I shouldn't be using that plastic on the reproduction (I don't see any reason why I would not)? Or am I going to have to dimple/pilot it myself?

2.) How to install twist nails for mounting the pop bumpers: hammer and maybe some kind of nail setting tool? Or...?

3.) Anybody have tips for sinking the t-nuts properly? Using a hammer and small nut driver works alright, but doesn't sink them like they originally were. Using a small clamp works great, but there is no way to use it for most of the t-nuts on the underside of the playfield.

4.) Anybody got any tips for reinstalling posts with the sort of wood screw bottom so they go in nice and straight? Only thing I can think of is to somehow rig up my drill leveling device and use that to do it.

Don't take my advice on this because I've never done it on a playfield, but I always used a rubber mallet other places I used t-nuts. That's a damn good question though.... how to get those things wedged in there without snapping the PF in half whacking it with a hammer....

1) You need to pilot the holes yourself. I'm assuming you're talking about the plastic running after the trap door...

2) I start the twist screws gently with a hammer. Once they're seated to where the thread is sticking out onto the underside of the playfield I'll screw a washer and nut to the underside to "pull" the twist nail down into the playfield. You may need needlenose pliers to stop the screws from rotating.

3) Two ways, depending on the t-nut. First is the same as above. Second is to screw into the t-nut, and then hammer onto that screw. I'll generally use a 2-3" screw for this to give me some distance from the playfield and never tap too hard.

4) I've always used the plastic posts as a guide to keep things vertical. Never had an issue but I can see how things -could- go wrong.

Ugh... yeah, I probably damn near did snap the thing in half with mine. :p Since I lack any sort of gigantic arbor press I guess how they are now may have to suffice.
