I sometimes think there is some magic in the programming of Spy Hunter, because over the years, there seems to be always something that happens that you've never seen before! Or you didn't remember seeing anyway. You can't say this about other games, but Spy Hunter really keeps you guessing... It sort of feels like an early taste of open style / sandbox type of play even though you are confined in most ways, anyway thought it would be fun to post your experiences over the years to see what others have missed or to pick up new tricks / cheats...

My favorite is the fact that you can destroy a Bullet Proof Bully that has been oil slicked with your machine guns, it can be tricky to do, because he has to slide past your car without going into the ditch first, but this is lots of fun!

A cheat that I never realized worked until I recently read it online is to go over the broken bridge by getting let off by a weapons van shortly before the bridge and then staying safe in the ditch causes the limousine and Doctor Torpedo to no longer appear for the rest of the game, but this doesn't always work. I've tried to narrow it down as to why it doesn't sometimes work, but it's sketchy, I first thought it had to be done before ever going into the water, but it sometimes works after going several times in the water. It seems to vary with different machine difficulty levels as well. This is part of why I never realized it worked, I had performed it numerous times to avoid going into the water, but only remember the lack of the limousine back in 2005 and still not putting 2 and 2 together...

A cool glitch is to shoot a weapons van shortly before entering it, the result is a van that has an exploded rear end going down the highway. Another is to boost in the water by touching the edges of land or the skinny pieces of land in the middle and shifting into high gear. If you do this multiple times, you will fly high on the screen and usually cause some random sound to start playing, usually machine guns until you press the machine guns to stop it, or if you fly into the van there will be a never ending and varying torpedo launching sound until you hit the oil slick. And if you fly into the van fast enough, you put the game into a never ending loop of water tracks that are sort of mashed up, coupled with your boat going anywhere on the screen and not crashing and the only enemy left to take you out is the helicopter. If you get destroyed 2 times by the chopper, the game usually glitches out and resets itself, unless it is game over. I believe I've seen a variance of this on an upright machine where instead of water tracks, there were road tracks and the boat was still cruising all around the screen, but I can't be sure of this as it was a long time ago, anybody witnessed this? The weirdest variance of this was when Paul Dean got his tires slashed and spun into the boathouse causing the boathouse to remain on the screen, this video is truly amazing where it looks like the car is either pushing the boathouse, or the chopper is airlifting the house, but it takes the chopper a long time to initially kill him, then after his second death, the machine resets, too damn cool:
