Not sure if this will interest anyone, but I thought I'd try something fun and creative. Ok, so I've had a stack of so-so manuals in my possession for some time now. I've tried selling some from time-to-time, but these still remain. If I really sat on them long enough or ebayed them, I MAY be able to get like $5 a piece for them, but instead of that, I figured enough is enough, let's have some fun. Therefore, I'm giving away my manuals in trade for ANYTHING!

Yes, that's right. Pick out a manual you want, I'll send it to you for free, you send me something back. I don't care what it is. It could be another arcade related item or it could be an old vhs tape. If you want to send a paperclip, that would suck, but it would still be neat to document in this thread. If you don't want to send anything, you don't have to.

Here's what you need to do. Select ONE manual from the list below, PM me the title of the one you want and send me your address. I will send it to the first person that PM's me for that title. I will simply place it in a brown envelope and send it first class mail. I'm not going to notify you if you were the first, you'll just know it when you receive the manual. When you do, simply pick out something you already have and send it back to me as trade.

Since I don't want to know what I'm receiving until I get it, just wait until you get the manual I send you, and send something back using the return address on the envelope. Since this is essentially free and you're not really obligated to send me anything of "comparable value", then I'm not going to take time to post photos or describe the condition of each one. Remember the item you trade doesn't have to be arcade related, it could be a comic book or a cd or anything.

I hope this sounds like fun. I'm not trying to come off as an ass if that's how my message reads, just thought I'd do something different. I'll document what I receive back as they start to come in.

Had a few replies already, so I tried to strikethrough the titles that are no longer available, but my HTML didn't work, so I just added "spoken for" after the title. Had several people all email about Slither, but like I said, first come first serve and the person who actually called it first won't find out they got it until they open their mailbox! ;-)

Thanks for playing guys, this will be fun.

Ok, here's an update on what's left. Remember, if you want something, just tell me what it is and send me your address. You may or may not get it, but the surprise of not knowing is part of what makes this fun. Please don't make me hunt down your address - You didn't follow instructions! :)

So, it has been a while, and I promised I'd update this thread with my loot. It looks like right now I'm batting .500, which isn't too bad. I mailed out just over 10 manuals and I got 5 packages back.

Let's take a look, first at the most recent package received. My kids will love the Dragonball Z stickers, and I'll proudly display the ATHF sticker in my office cubicle:

The next photo is actually a combination of two packages. The first item is a Super Famicom cartridge - Space Invaders, which was the very first SF cartridge the sender ever owned. Cool! Next, I received TWO NEO GEO cartridges: Art of Fighting, and 3 Count Bout! I can see this experiment is working out in my favor!

This next person, must've read that I like comic books, because I got 2 copies of the first two issues of an U.S. Army comic book - with badges to boot!

Lastly, we have my favorite trade. I'm pretty sure I know who sent me this, but I scored an AWESOME laser-cut metal sign for my arcade! It is actually hanging above the entrance to my arcade right now.Very cool!

I still have a few manuals left, and I may end up putting up some of my other random stuff later. I LOVE coming home to find random packages on my doorstep and having no idea what could be inside. I definitely think I've come out ahead in this! Thanks everyone!

Wow, awesome idea and nice scores. I wish I saw your original post in a more timely manner but I would have been to tempted to send you my Tempest cab in trade for the Temptest trouble shooting manual. Prolly more fun reading that than actually keeping the damn thing running correctly.
Care to tell what gooidies were traded for which manual?
