Applying Tips...
What's up Guys!
Charles here, That's my Cabinet posted above. For those who are going to attempt to install this bad boy, Do Not attempt this by yourself. You'll need another set of helping hands.
What I did was Lay the cabinet it on its side.
STRONGLY RECOMMEND!!! Yes the color print is an inch over size and like 6ft TALL. (the Sheet is wide and tall)
So you are gonna have to trim some of the fat.
Here goes:
1. lay the cabinet down. Clean the whole side of the cabinet where your gonna apply the art.
Whatever dust is underneath it will appear & it's a Bitch to pick off /remove on the adhesive side when your holding your $200 and a "free T-shirt" 6 ft Side Art with both hands. (Plug!) So clean it real good before hand.
2. Get some weights. I used ankle weights. (Holds my camera tripod steady.)
They are the little 20lbs sand bags. (They come with 10 little 2lbs bags) Your gonna need it to keep the bottom side of the cab positioned while your at the other end.
The art has a
"VERY" tight Fit. Your gonna have to deal with that MIDWAY logo 1st.
Move it almost near or if not less than a 1/4 of an inch near the edge of the cab.
Then look at Johnny's Hair on the other side. You'll have to try to balance the MIDWAY logo and Johnny's Hair.
It maybe about 1/8 near the edge of the cab.
What you'll want to do is slightly fold the art down off the edge of the cab to see your edge line.
Once those two are close your gonna have to deal with the Dragons front Claw at the bottom corner.
That Also is about 1/4 inch or less near the bottom edge of the cab.
Your are going to have to find the medium/Center with those three factor points. (It Will Fit!)
Oh and look out for the top right Dragon Claw. he's a sneaky one too, but you got a lot more room with that Claw than the MIDWAY logo.
Once you have all that lined up, Slammed on the weights / sandbag. Lock it Down.
3. Now cut off the top useless material. It'll make easier when your ready to apply. I left about 6 inch above the color print. (Remember its 1 inch oversized already plus extra)
4. Now follow Rich's application tutorial on his web page: Production Blog "Vinyl 101"
(Strongly recommend)
The Side Art comes with a Free squeegee, But its Highly Recommended using a roller First.
Once applied follow with soapy water on the art with the Squeegee to eliminate the air bubbles.
The bubble will go away. This material is GREAT! I have no air bubbles on my cab. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE ART WET!
THAT SQUEEGEE WILL CATCH & Possible TEAR.
5. Once the air bubble are gone let it settle to the wood with the sand bags for about 30 min or so.
6. Now grab the sharpest, freshest razor blade you can find and trim on the T-molding channels.
On the back of the cabinet use the edge as your guide, but with a steady pace! This material Cuts WAY TOO EASY!! Use patients.
7. Once the Cuts are made apply the T-molding to secure the edges.
This art is so bad ass, I am too afraid to install the monitor bolts.
Well, I hope this helps. If you guys have any questions feel free to hit me up.
I'm up all night Vectorizing arcade art. (currently working on Shinobi control panel button decal tabs)
