I finally got a fresh batch of boards rebuilt. I have 3 ready to ship. These are the later power supply boards that require the separate heat sink with the transistors on it. In the picture below, the board is on the right and the heat sink assembly is on the left. The metal plate is not included.

Price is $35 + $12 shipping to the lower 48 (elsewhere it will be $35 + actual shipping).

I also have a limited number of heat sink assemblies as well. They are $20 + $12 shipping to the lower 48. They will ship free if you buy it with the power supply board.

PMs will be answered in the order received.

Thanks.

Hi Ken,

Will you detail exactly which parts on the board were rebuilt (replaced)? Thanks! And yes, I'm asking so I can rebuild my own.

Hi Ken,

Will you detail exactly which parts on the board were rebuilt (replaced)? Thanks! And yes, I'm asking so I can rebuild my own.

It all depends on what parts are bad or appear to be failing.
* I normally swap out the small caps.
* if any headers are burned, corroded or bent too badly, they get replaced
* I check the two large caps and replace as necessary
* If the voltages on +5 or +12 are off, I will replace the voltage regulators (socketing if it hasn't been done)
* I test and replace the bridge rectifiers as necessary
* replace fuses with the correct ones

Beyond that, then it is a matter of debugging the board. There are always lots of little things. The R10 may need to be put back on. Frequently the SCRs need to be replaced and the zeners as well. Resistors need to be checked for burning. Traces on the card need to be looked at & tested as they frequently get torn while in storage as the component legs on other cards get dragged across. LEDs need to be checked and replaced as they frequently get bent and the legs break. Etc.

Hey Ken-

Will you take in broken donor Williams linear supplies as credit? :)

I do, but only the later style (as pictured earlier in this thread). I have a big box of Defender power supply boards that nobody seems to want, so I don't take them in as trade. I will repair them for people, but I have a lifetime supply.

I usually offer $10 in credit towards a replacement. By the time I add $5 in fuses, $6 in small caps, $8 in bridge rectifiers and $11 in big caps, that doesn't leave much margin, especially if there is something else that needs to be replaced.

Hope it's ok to revive this...

I notice you have older Defender PS boards, but I'm wondering if you have loose parts for them, like the 2 heatsinks?

I recently got a board, traces are nice and clean, no sign of any heat damage or burning, but the board was fairly gutted, save the large cap, 4 other caps, and some resistors and diodes. Nearly all the other parts, LEDs, BRs, diodes, voltage regulators, both heatsinks, and even 3 pairs of the fuse holders are missing.

So, I'm looking for a pair of heatsinks. Also, I have most of the other parts needed after rebuilding my other PS board, but wondering about the LEDs and fuse holders, will any LEDs work for this, or do I need something specific, and are the fuse holders easily acquired?
