IMHO, SMASH TV is very cool and very fun game.

The game board in the pic. is a WILLIAMS SMASH TV program board. The program board is a JAMMA pinout. It needs a WILLIAMS SMASH TV sound board to go with it. The sound board has all the sound ROMS. And, the sound board needs a volume pot to adjust the volume level. But, I do know if the program board will work with out the sound board.

Here is the SMASH TV manual if anyone wants to take a look: http://www.crazykong.com/manuals/#S
And, here is a pic of a SMASH TV board set if any one wants to take a look. http://www.jeffsgames.com/archives/category/arcade-games/nba-jam/ (It's at the bottom of the page.)

EDIT: I got a hold of a SMASH TV board set. The program baord seems to play fine without the sound board connected. I just don't get any game souds.

yes, you need the sound board, the power cables to the sound board, the ribbon cable and the volume pot.

Smash tv is a 2 player 2 joystick per player game. so your cabinet is not wired correctly to play the game.

just a note, if you care about your PCBS, don't put them anywhere near clear bubble wrap. Anti static bags or newspaper.

do you think me not having the proper wiring would explain why i get a grey screen while playing it randomly while pressing certain buttons?

The grey screen can come from buttons or joysticks wired up wrong. I had one that would do this when testing in some generic cab where the start button and fire button were wired together.

Game would test fine until hitting that button, then it would go grey and I'd have to kill the power to get it to reset.

It's been running fine for months in a correctly wired cabinet.

with all this being said from you and people above i think this board is 100% working then. whats this worth man? thanks for the info! for your information i use this acb for neo and cps2 stuff. i have the first button on the bottom row double wired to a kick harness and jamma edge connector for mvs. that must be why im seeing that grey screen.....

Yup: that's standard NEO-COM wiring. :D

And, your most likely culprit.

.... whats this worth man?.....

I'm not sure about the price of STV boards sold separately.

But, IMHO, I'd say the value of STV boards depend on the value of a working STV board set. I'd also say that a working program board sold separately is worth more than a working sound board sold separately. And, in general, buying everything separate to assemble a cab. always seems to cost more--unless you need just a few parts to fix it up or convert it.

OK, I just got a hold of a SMASH TV board set and and hooded it up to a NEO-GEO MVS CP.

Looks like SMASH TV crashes whenever I try and fire in an impossible direction--eg. UP & DOWN or LEFT & RIGHT. I'm thinking that's why WILLIAMS made it a dual joystick game.:D

Also looks like SMASH TV plays fine with or without the sound board. ;)

Hope this info helps. :)
