FS Sega color XY G08 Monitor

I think I paid $150 non working and had it shipped. It had zero burn. Repair was $125.

This was a few years ago.

If it was me, I'd put it on Ebay with BIN $200.

While I am sure you did... I am equally sure that my premise that there are exceptions to every rule has been confirmed.
$150 would not be the 'norm' for any complete, not obviously damaged, color vector monitor.

To the OP - if you feel motivated to put it on eBay with a BIN of $200 let me know so I can grab it. Since I am semi-local, I'd pick it up.

When I got one of these, the seller had it for $150 BIN on Ebay and I grabbed it. This was also a couple of years ago.

I think the problem nowadays is that there are not a whole lot of people willing to work on these anymore. I can repair monitors but was totally out of my league with this one.

C'mon... you're never gonna find one for $150... especially 'working'. Not sure where you developed that price range.

umm yeah i did by one working for 150.00 off of a guy and i drove to nj to get it.. i got it off craigs list (not here by the way, this place is SELL FOR ALOT, BUY FOR CHEAP, THATS THIS FORUMS MODDO)

as for having one to sell? no i dont have one nor will i ever cause i dont own a star trek anymore!!!!

as for the price of a non working one? i sold my last non working for 100.00 to a guy off of craigs list....

You are right... I shouldn't have written 'never'. Anything can happen.
I still believe that even though these monitors are problematic (I currently have a broken one and have had several Sega XY games in the past) they are still needed if you have a Sega XY game.

Furthermore, when the new Sega Multigame actually starts rolling out to the 'commoners' (non-beta testing minions) there will be a spike in the number of people interested in having this monitor for their forgotten and nearly abandoned Sega games.

I totally agree... not fun to work on.

That being said... I would consider a complete GO8, at $200, a really nice deal.

Good move grabbing the eBay one for $150.
 
This offer may be on the right track. Anthony at quarter arcade had these for sale in a thread for $200 at pickup, non-working, but complete. That said, when I went to pick up a WG6100 from him, he hadn't had really had any interest in the G08s, so that indicates either nobody local was interested or the price was too high.

I think the Sega Multigame is already out,and is no longer in beta test. I have one in my cab. The issue with this board is the lack sounds in all the games except ST and Tac Scan unless you have the other sound boards in your cage. Vectorlabs is supposed to produce an all in one sound board but I haven't heard much about it lately.
 
Thats why i wont ever own another star trek.. awsome fucking game to boot.. its a shame how they made it so with elite parts... You really need to know someone who repairs these monitors, or have knowledge of repairing them... I had 2 spares, with another one in the machine, with my star trek and in 2 years, i was down to one... They all seem to have something burn out quick, then you need to rattle your brain and see what caused that part to burn out, cause you know it just wasnt that part that went, something else went which made that part burn!!!!
 
Next time post it for $900 OBO.

That way nobody will get their panties all in a bunch because you didn't mention a price. :cool:

It isn't an auction. He has no reason to take it that forum. It is a best offer for sale post. It is simple. If there was a problem with best offer posts the mods would've stepped in long ago.

Instead of this guy moving the thread, a better idea would be for you guys to ignore it.

Oh, I can see this thread getting the same attention if he'd listed the monitor at $900 ;-)

If everyone that has their panties all wadded up would just let-it-lie, this thread would take care of itself.

What's the functional difference? An auction is a best offer for sale post with a fixed end date. Is the difference that this guy can run it forever? That's the only thing I see that makes this not an auction.

BTW, guys, the problem with g08s isn't the monitors. It's the damn transformers. I have two g08s and it took me nearly two years to find a sega transformer block and I had to buy an otherwise stripped game to get it. I still haven't been able to find a second. I've never seen a sega vector for sale in my area in any condition.

I've saved a few transformers from cabinets that got parted out.

One of them makes a nice bench-testing piece.

I think the other one is buried somewhere.

I recommend the transformer mod, but I don't like the transistor assembly swap (mounting them backwards). I question whether it helps cool anything off and it looks butt ugly as hell.
