FS: Reproduction Food Fight & Red Baron Linkages by RAM Controls

I have brand new reproduction Food Fight/Red Baron Analog Controller Linkages for sale!!

This hard black anodized aluminum part replaces Atari part number 036957-01 which was originally made from nylon plastic. No doubt, you've seen the OEM plastic parts cracked and broken - this is VERY common with these controllers and when it breaks, the controller is crippled! You won't have that problem with these aluminum parts - they're SO much stronger than the original Atari version.

Check 'em out:

Here's a semi close-up shot of the new reproduction parts. So pretty!!!

Here's another shot of the same parts... The opening for the "D" shaft of the potentiometer has been engineered to work perfectly with my reproduction pots as well as the OEM Allen-Bradley pots.

And another shot of the parts. I decided to stray from the exact style everyone else seemed to be using in the past for this part...plus, I hard black anodized them. I think they look pretty nice this way. And your Atari game deserves nothing less!!

Gratuitous photo to demonstrate I have some QTY on hand, ready to ship!

So, these are available now @ $30 for a set of two including shipping to any destination on the planet (includes the set screws which are not photographed). My paypal email is [email protected]

Thanks for looking!!

Yes, that's why I originally came up with the idea to repro them in Aluminum several years ago! I should have patented the idea........ Then I could get royalties. :)

Well, other than the black anodized part they are identical to the style I used........

Ahhh, it was you who made them.

Mine are slightly different than yours. Note the end nearest where the set screw is located. I rounded that end as well as all the way around the top where the screw goes in. I tried to make mine mimic the OEM as much as possible without going too crazy with machine time.

How many did you run off? I'm hoping that the 1000pcs I made will hold everyone over for the long run. :)

Pics or it didn't happen right.....

I know that there were three repro runs aside from mine.

Yours - looks closest to my version.
Eldorado Games - looks awful.
Someone else? - looks a lot like the ones eldorado sells, but uglier, if that's possible.

I need them for the full joystick reproduction. In the meantime, I'll sell sets of linkages to keep people happy. :)

I ran 100pcs (50 sets), and sold out in about 24 hours. Was tempted to do another run, but at the time I think I satisfied most of the demand.

It is nice to see these, and all of your parts, available. Kudos.

Selling out in 24hrs is amazing!! I think you covered most of the demand when you made these because the demand seems light compared to your figures. Then again, it is a holiday weekend.

I can't wait to start getting some real feedback from all the people I've shipped these to in the last couple of days.

Dave;
I don't know how you did it but I received my linkages already and I have to say, they are miniature works of art!
Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks for doing this, you saved me mucho time doing a set myself on my half-a-- drill press/milling machine.
Excellent!
Jeff

BTW, the set screws were an afterthought. You found those in the package, right? :)

David;
Yes, I found the screws, thanks....
The bezel - oh yea, well - after I got back up off the floor..........
That is not even funny. It can be used as a paperweight!
It is spot on, perfect!
I don't know how you do it but "keep on truckin' "
Thanks Man!

I have seriously considered this. In fact, I have ONE set of aluminum handles. Problem is....they're just SO far off from original, I'm not sure they will fly, they cost a fortune to make compared to plastic and they're EXPENSIVE TO MAKE. LOL People seem to like cheap-as-possible while staying as close to original. I'm working on a plastic/urethane version right now. Sit tight.

Everyone may disagree, but I think the handles would be badass made out of metal.

Plastic would be reasonable and correct. I could only see metal handles possible if you wanted to make an extremely limited run of them and price them high enough to cover your costs and a reasonable profit. It would be a 'luxury' item.

I could always have the "Bling" version of everything I make. Chrome/Nickle/Gold plated parts? Hahaha I can pretty much run anything in aluminum or steel given enough time. It makes more sense to machine run mold and run off a heap of handles quickly. Maybe I'll run off a small batch of aluminum handles and either powdercoat them or hard anodize them...
