Buddy of mine has a fully working pole position cockpit with the topper for sale he's asking $350 obo. Located in elyria ohio.

Ok I looked at Brentradio's web page and think they are talking about the track description on top of the game.
A very cool piece for the collector to have.

Yep, it's made of metal and has 3 holes that line up to the marquee screws so it bolts right on. Was made for the cockpit to go on the back top right above the plexiglass.

Of course since it talks about using the foot brake, I had to install one on my upright.

Hey Brent !

This is my cockpit. What a surprise seeing that picture pop up. My AD sits there now with my BZ to the right of it. The basement/gameroom is almost finished now too.

Does anyone know if the cockpit comes apart in at least two pieces to get it down the basement stairs? I only have stairs inside my house (not bilco) for my basement and they make a 90-degree turn half way down at the landing.

I wonder if it would be worth it in gas and everything to drive all the way to Cleveland, its about 10 hours from me to get this?

You have it easy, my stairs go 180-degrees. PP isn't made to come apart. BUT it will if your carefull. The top part will unbolt with screws that hold it together. The bottom you'll have to saw in half at the seam. I used a sawzall. remove the speaker wire first. Then bolt the bottom back together using 1/8 plates (both sides) with flat head screws and t-nuts made for wood. It's just as strong as new. I'm a Tool & Die Maker so the plate was easy to make at work. Here's a few pictures with the tread removed. The top looks factory. You can't tell it was apart. It so light in two parts when empty. My wife and I carried it down the stairs.

I got one of those toppers from another collector awhile back. I bought one of those plate-hanging hooks to hang it (it's on that back wall in the pic). It's actually next to a Pole Position II now on the other side of the room.

Tooz nice work! Looks like you did a really clean job with it.

LL was the first vector game I ever played. I remember being in awe of LL when I first saw it in the arcade. People that come over always comment on it and end up playing a game or two on it.

Anyway, sorry to get off topic!

Thanks, Tooz for the insightful reply. Yeah, that's pretty smart and cool the way you did it. But, I think I'm gonna pass. Just found a sweet donkey kong in my area that I'm going to try to buy.

I must have saved that from a website or something. I like collecting pics of games I own.

You can only have a topper on your game if it has a brake (since it talks about using the brake). And only the cockpits had a brake. Oh, and one upright...
