FS: Original Mello Yello Q*bert

It's in very nice shape. Kind of a gong show getting it back into Canada. Long story short Customs didn't believe that I paid $600.00 for machine and phoned the seller to verify what I bought machine for. Never had that happen before.
Have to work on the joystick, won't register when moving lower right, works great if backdoor open. The kids are having a blast playing it.

My Mad Planets was only on location for a year before the previous owner bought it. The flight stick wasn't working but ended up unplugging everything that went to the filter board and plugged it back in and low and behold... It is working great.

So, start there... In fact, if you have contact cleaner I'd unplug each molex plug to the filter board, spray the header pins and plug in before it dries. From there, I'd reflow the solder on the filter board.

You might want to rebuild your power supply as well. I need to do that on my Mad Planets even though it's working great. Just haven't gotten around to that yet.

Also, if you have the large silver heat shield over the PCB's, I'd remove that... Both my Q*bert and my Mad Planets had them when I bought them... Just remove it and keep it if it's in good shape. But, IMO it's a bad thing.

Nice Pickup.

Ha... another raid from Canada? We have to stop this guy or he will have all the games from the American midwest up there in Canada!

j/k

Hope the BZ cabaret is behaving itself.

Thanks for the info guys, thought maybe a cold solder joint. Maybe try unplugging the molex connectors also. Stupid me, leave town with no place to put game in the Mortydome arcade, currently in our bedroom. That's how I know my wife loves me!
Alejandromad, how you doing? Have to send the Battlezone board to Electic Forge for repairs. I got a little wango tango reseating one of the chips. Other than that game is sitting in the corner for bad behavior.

if you pull on the connectors on the input board (top left) one might come out and maybe cause trace damage. I would remove the screws holding it in place, flip it down and reflow all the connectors without removing any. There are probably 10 to 20 cold solder joints on that board..

then you can move to rebuilding the PS.

Reflow all the headers on the filter board, you have cracked solder joints. When the door is open it puts enough pressure on the harness to make the connection.

Awwww... I'm sorry about that. I can't imagine it will require much. Alex is awesome so it will certainly be bullet proof when you get it back. I hope you can play it again soon. I look forward to visiting you someday (probably on a road trip with my Canadian 'wife-to-be').

Hopefully you'll be able to come to Phet's bash in St Cloud.
