I just did another buy out from a distributor that was in business for the last 50 years. Among all the Atari, Sega, Taito, Bally and Nintendo parts was this one orange button.

$25 mailed in the US.

Atari, you say? I am always looking for some fresh buttons for my Steeplechase. Big, lighted, inserts of different colors in them. Probably black housing.

Because Nintendo buttons are smaller diameter by 1/16 of an inch and also people on here like to keep their games original.

Andrew

But besides them no one else will know the difference lol I buy the buttons from Mikesarcade and still don't see a difference between the two.

Agree 100% thats what I do. Yes the blue is off alittle but I dont mind.

honestly, i don't mind if the color is a little off when there is a price difference of 20+ bucks for O-N-E button!

it's different though when it comes to joysticks, for example a berzerk batstick. i'd never put a cheaper wico stick in there just to save some money, because this is all about gameplay, but that's just my two cents ...

I agree the price is high for most of us tightwads. Nintendo buttons are harder to find period, let alone NOS. Also, there is more than just a color difference. You can see how the tops are sharper where the concave part goes out to the edge. They are taller, also. And, of course, the diameter is smaller. If you have an original CPO, you cannot fit regular leaf buttons in there. The repros have larger holes for standard size buttons. Sorry to ramble.

Like I have always said "the price is only high if you don't REALLY need it". I wouldn't pay that much, but if I had the money and wanted it.......I would buy it. If I don't want something, I don't care what they charge for it.

I just PayPal'd the money to Mylstar for this. I don't care if another NOS one comes along tomorrow for $10. I've been on the lookout for an original, unattached orange Nintendo button for nearly a year. I had a chance to be first on this one so I took it. The extra $15+ in this case is chump change when you want an original part.

My Mario Bros. widebody still has the original orange Nintendo button for player 2, but player 1's button was changed out by a previous owner with a shorter (about 1/2 the height), faded red button with rounder edges. And not even the whole button was changed out, just the plunger part is red; the outside housing is the original orange piece. It works perfectly but looks like ass.

I bought a few of the orange repros from Mike's Arcade but wasn't impressed. Don't get me wrong; they work perfectly and are an excellent solution, if you have no other option. They just don't look or feel right, and it bugs me. I will save them for the day my originals break and replacements are impossible to find without stripping original control panels for parts. I don't want to see people tearing up original Nintendo control panels because the buttons are worth more than the whole panel and it's cheaper to strip and ship just the buttons and get more bang for the buck. In this case the button was an unattached NOS. Worth it to me.

There are many little things on my games I'm willing to overlook but this isn't one of them. I want my controls to be correct (and that means I still need to track down the correct joystick for my Frogger; mine's perfect except it is the short shaft version).

school me on this: what's so special about nintendo buttons? why not use new ones?

This, in addition to the concave part being a little deeper on the Nintendo button. You guys may not appreciate the differences but to some of us all of this matters.

While I don't disagree with much said here, it's quite a crappy thing to do to crap all over Mylstar's thread. If you guys want to discuss the merits of a $25.00 button, you may want to post about it in the general forum, no?

Its already sold, no harm done.

It was informative to hear the various differences.

Of course, the real question is: how much *more* would he have paid ;)

Are people ever interested in used original buttons? I have a few that I just can't bring my self to toss out but at the same time will probably never use them.
