EDIT: No longer for sale.

I said I wouldn't do it, but the fund raising effort hasn't been going as well as planned. With that said, this is the only game right now that is the "sore thumb" of my collection based on how much it is played by friends and family. I also sold most of my Vs. PCBs and chips. As much as I love it and it's one of those "rare" Nintendo collectibles, it's time for it to go to a new home.

It's in solid working condition. There is some flaking around the corners and edges, but it still displays well. I bought an original replacement front glass for one of the sides as it only had the plexi layer when I acquired it. I've wiped down the exterior and it's relatively clean inside as well. All joysticks and buttons are original and all of the wiring inside looks to be untouched. Both monitors work fine but have some burn in from previous games (Top Gun and Golf). It isn't too noticeable behind the smoked plexi and front glass unless you're playing a game with a light colored background (Ex. SMB). Both coin boxes are there as well as all the locks and keys.

P.S. For those who were wondering, I can still be the keeper of the Red Tent Registry as I'm guessing no one else would want the responsibility of taking it over. Though, it's a simple switching over to a new email account that is associated with it. If you're interested, let me know and I'll pass the torch.

Here are some pictures I've taken since I've had it (Note: The instruction cards are not included as I sold those separately):

Sucks, really. Will you plan on getting another in the future?

As for the Registry, I think it's cool if you keep it. But, if for some reason you decide you don't want to, or feel the need to pass it on, I'd be happy to take it over for you.

If I can come across one in the future that's at the right price and I have the funds and space for it, then yes.

I don't mind keeping the registry, but thanks for offering in the event that I choose to pass it on. :)

that sucks man, I hope it goes to a good home tho! You should think about the PC10 conversion for it, there is a NOS kit on ebay to convert it! I think the PC10 is what keeps my red tent active!
Good luck with your sale!

Thanks fellas! I have a feeling no one is going to want to ship it and there is no one local that seems to be interested. If all else fails, I'll cover it up until we get over this hump and I can afford to get it running again. :)

If you need some quick cash, you may want to reconsider what you are selling. The Red Tent seems to have a cult following, and not many people are wanting them.

I would consider selling the Donkey Kong, or Galaga. Those would sell quick here or CL, if you really need the cash.

Just a thought.

Yeah, I thought about it. Donkey Kong for me is a definite keeper because it was my first game, my first restoration (complete overhaul) and the favorite of my collection. I just picked up Galaga at a steal and it has definitely gotten a lot of playing time by friends and family (and by me). So I feel it would be a shame to sell as well. The red tent seemed like the most logical pick given my situation.

Though like you said, I have a feeling the red tent won't sell. It will most likely be stored indefinitely. We're not extremely desperate for cash, but I'm trying to avoid my wife having to sell some of her valuables for a handful of reasons I won't get into. Like I said, it's one of those "a lot of expenses all at once" moments that unfortunately caught us by surprise just when my wife went back to work after being on maternity leave for 6 months. Sometimes you try to plan ahead and it just doesn't work out.

I appreciate your suggestion though. It's always a tough decision picking which game to sell if need be.

Yessir, it is....at first.

After going through what I did and having to sell EVERYTHING (save for 3 games), it sucks at first, but once you realize these can ALL be replaced, its no biggie. Don't make your wife sell stuff she cant get back (i.e. valuables passed down from family, etc) if thats the case. You can always restore another DK, and grab another Galaga. Ive been in your shoes. It sucks, but is bearable once all is said and done. AND, once you start acquiring games again, it makes the hobby enjoyable again.

Hell, its almost August and I still haven't purchased a game this year (remember, I traded from my Red Tent). Thats about to change shortly, and I'm so stoked. Ive got that fresh feeling again. That Summers Eve fresh feeling.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't allow her to sell any heirlooms or something that important. We're talking gifts she received such as her iPad, appliances, etc. I'd rather she keep what's important to her than me try to hold onto all of my games. But you're right, games can be replaced and I'd think a Galaga could be replaced easier than a red tent regardless of how much I got it for. The future hunt for new games would make it fun and exciting again. Thanks again for the advice Jow. I really appreciate it.

Sorry to hear you're in a situation where you have to try to sell it. Hope everything works out well for you guys. Hopefully it won't be long until that VAPS game and board count is on the rise. :)

I don't think it matters since I didn't get any takers on this one, but my wife was able to pick up a freelance design job so based on what we've raised so far, we'll be okay. Thanks for the support guys. :)
