Good to know. Thanks. I've asked many repairers to actually send me pictures before they send the board back. Just my way of knowing, or my truth that the board works before it left. Some respect it, others don't. Those that don't will put up pictures of previous repairs or simply won't bother.
Matter of factly, what drove my sale from David, was the pictures of his fantastic work and kit for Missile Command. Guys, you just can't beat this. I just can't believe your comparing artwork sales with hardware sales. One is so far easier than the other. Give us all a break in condemnation.
One involves art that is drawing, coloring, printing. The other is working in manufacturing and engineering and engineering design, tooling and the works. Two totally different fields.

Zin you are a piece of work. No wonder you're holding hands with Dave here.

I've read you referencing me doing preorders and you dont like it. DON'T PARTICIPATE THEN! Those that do are NEVER screwed in any manner by me. You have never seen a post about me holding peoples money, issuing fake tracking numbers, not answering emails etc...

Now in this post you're tearing into the ease of artwork. Well gee whiz, Dave is making panels with artwork and has a problem with the art, not the panel itself. There goes that theory of yours. Fwiw I have made several metal parts and they are no more difficult than artwork (unless youre referring to inkjet). Do a little research on the screen printing process before you open your pie hole. My 2nd project ever was Scramble control panels with the art screened onto the metal. Many were shipped overseas and I never had a single problem with inks lifiting due to pressurized cabin air or whatever the hell excuse he is making. You say you're really big on making vendors providing photos right? People have asked for pictures of Daves mysterious panels over and over and havent gotten any. Wanna take a guess why?

As you rip into me Zin, I'd like to refresh your piss poor memory of a not too distant past. When your mother passed away you were fairly new to rgvac. I didnt know you, but you posted the story about her (2002?) and I emailed my condolences, mailed you a card and said I was praying for your family. We struck up many conversations after that. You were down on your luck financially and I sent you some parts you needed. You said you would repay me some day when things turned around. When they did you never sent me anything and claimed it was a gift. Fine. But then you posted (2005?)about a really tough financial situation and cried the blues on rgvac. I posted my reply and offered you a job in my UPS Store, 6 months free room and board and $1500 in relocation expenses to come out there. I even rounded up a few collectors on rgvac to donate gas cards to help with the move. You passed on it, but the offer was publicly made.

It was me who constantly defended you on rgvac when people (art mallet, markline) attacked you, even though some of the time you deserved it.

In 2006 you approached me about giving you a job as the pr spokesmen for PhoenixArcade, which was painfully funny.

Now you come on here and take shots at me and my business because I just want Dave to run his business in an honest professional manner. I never took shots at his products, just the manner in which he handles his customers money. Well I think that speaks volumes of the kind of character you have and I hope it made you feel really good about yourself.

-Insert animated Michael Jackson pic, eating popcorn here-

If this is true, Dave, what the hell are you thinking? You know as well as I that you don't offer a product until it's READY. That's just how business is done. You know that. This pre-order crap needs to stop on all fronts, by all sides. This is how this crap happens.
And if I don't mistake my guess, this all started with Phoenix arcade products and advance/pre-orders/upfront money. At least when I first got into it, that's where I heard all of it from.

Unfortunatly There are some projects that may only ever get done with a preorder.
Some vendors like Phoenix, Quarter, PRoK, and would like to think myself have enough trust within the community to be able to honestly do it. and do it right by everyone.

ANY project whether its art or fab takes a huge investment on someones part and theres not much profit. I think I can say most of us "Repro Heros" do this for the love of the game. and without the communitys support most of these projects will never see the light of day.

But on the other hand this wasnt treated as a preorder as it maybe shouldve been
it would appear it was still a preorder in disguise. maybe just another way to make a "preorder" from Ram Contrls
sound like less of a risk?
I also wasnt under the impression no money was begin taken
so if there were problems with the project (and there usally are-with anyone)
that no one could cry or lose sleep over it.
So not sure how/when that changed.
But Its also no suprize Dave was left down and out on $$$ considering...If thats true.

well i can agree on alot of that as far as output to income rich.. and on the other stuff i can see some of this myself. I don't take any prepayment on my signs, and i am sitting on a big stack of them that went unpaid, and no response to pm's. My cabinets, i do paid in full before i cut those, due to the outlay for materials, and it's a big chunk of space to sit around till it's picked up.

I would start a thread about the unpaid folks, ask them to give you a 200 word essay describing why they ordered a sign and then didn't pay for it. I hate that shit.

This probally needs to be in it's own thread
But what you do with these signs are completely diffrent DPtwiz.
The is no reason why some one would want to order a sign and not pay for it up front.

Think of it this way...
I'm ordering custom printed art work from Mamemarquees do I pay before or after?

I do not know of any bussiness that offers custom work and dosen't get pre payed or at least a % up front frist.

I think its time for DptWiz's Klearance Korner! Unless its something custom with someone's name or arcade name on it...maybe offer them up for sale? I'd then say to take at least a 50% deposit on any custom signs with any names on them.

I can agree on most of what you've said Rich. I may have mispoke earlier or perhaps came down too hard, with a point blank, stop all preorders, with it being construed as an attack.
I typically don't preorder but come in after the product is released with a few exceptions. In this case I was never aware of any pre-orders.
But the point I was making was that it seems to be the preorder nature that provides the friction time and again.
A percentage downpayment would be an excellent idea if it were possible.
I've not personally or professionally had any problem with Ram Controls and my experience has always been excellent.
Of course I've always had good service and a good relationship with This Old Game as well. Excellent products.
My proposal may not have been popular, but my point was our market is so small that we really need to work more together than on the backbiting on each other. But that was obviously bypassed. I'm sure that we wouldn't have half the battle language if the spoken word were more prevalent than message form. Which, entirely too much is read into.
I have faith in David. Who else ships overnight at a loss? Who else gives away products in contests? Who else gives discounts for just being a member of klov? I'm not excluding anyone that I'm not aware of that has done this before, but I do feel he is honestly trying and working his tail off for the love of the game.
But I digress, if I'm going to take a stand in support of someone, I certainly don't want it to be the kiss of death, so maybe I need to consider that more fully if I myself am going to be run through the mud in doing so. I am, and I'm sure many more are appreciative of your and Dave's civility in disagreements or counterpoints.
