Hi all

I have a 2-player JPAC/Mame arcade cabinet that I've been thinking of selling and thought I would post up here to see if there is any interest.

I've uploaded some pictures here: www.photobucket.com/playstationarcade

I had taken a Mortal Kombat II cabinet that was pretty trashed and have completely restored it for a more MAME application. At present, it has an Ultimarc J-PAC card in it, outfitted with the Playsation 2 adaptor and counsel. Works great for the Atari and Intellevision game disks I have, and can also be used with a computer for MAME. The cabinet has been completely repainted (inside and out), with new full side art and marquee. The cabinet has also been slimed down a bit to more normal size, as the MK2 cabs were monsters size wise. New Jamma harness, speakers and amplifier installed, along with a new control panel (8 buttons per player, 2 joysticks). Coin door is fully operational. Monitor is in good shape, with little to no burn in that i can see (horizontal). This sucker is built to last, and overall, looks great. As you can see from the pictures, there's no trackball, but I have one that I will toss into the deal.

Some more details on what's included:

Mortal Combat II Game Cabinet – Fully Restored with new side/control panel artwork and marquee
2-Player controls, with 8 keys each and a fully operational coin door.
New Jamma Harness
Sound can be run through the Jamma Harness, or the separately installed audio amplifier.
Ultimarc JPac Card installed
Playstation 2 included with Atari and Intellevision disks
Haap Controls Track Ball (Not Installed, but included in the deal)

As an added bonus, I'm willing to toss in the following to the deal:

Extra: I have an old/used 1.8GHz Sony Vaio PC (Model #VGN-CR120E/R) that is no longer working for some reason. Tried replacing the hard drive, but can't get the restoration disks to load (although it starts to, just freezes up). In original box. Might work well for MAME for those who can figure out how to fix it.

Extra: Brand New (but opened) 320 GB Western Digital Hard Drive. Got this to replace the above, but no luck.

Extra: You may notice in the pictures a large PCB in the bottom of the cab. This is a World Class Bowling PCB. Fully operational and included.

Is there any market for something like this? Would like to get $600 for the lot. Let me know if I'm off the mark either way, but the cabinet is in great shape and comes with everything listed above.

Thanks

Truthfully (IMO), customized cabs like this aren't going to get the attention you'd like from a forum full of users that typically frowns on cabinet alterations such as this. If you still had the original (not slimmed down) MKII cab, with all the parts to restore it to it's original state, you'd garner a lot more positive attention.

You may have put a lot of work into it (and from the pics, it looks like you did), but even the multigame and MAME people are going to look at the control panel and see a lot of work needed, b/c of the button layout. I hate to say it, but you're probably better off either A) keeping it, or B) making a new custom control panel with a regular 6-button layout and your trackball in the middle, and offering it up as a multigame/jamma cab. I'd rather be honest than let you wonder why nobody is responding.

Hi

Thanks for the info. Actually, very much appreciated. I generally am not in favor a conversions like this either, but figured the cab was so trashed when I got it, why not. Didnt have the marquee or board set for MKII anyway. Good idea on the control panel. I was wondering if that was going to be an issue or not. Remaking that won't be very difficult, so I may go that route. I'm finding that I don't really need the extra 2 buttons anyway. Would like to keep the machine, but am running out of space and likely will have to let this go. I was wondering if this was just a worthless paperweight, or if was doing something wrong. :>). Never occurred to me that this might be a difficult thing to sell.

Thanks again for the advice. I'm more of a pinball guy, so this is a bit out of my realm. And, my first one.

That's totally fair. Some cabs are too far gone to put a lot of work into restoring them. And if a modification fits what you want to get out of a machine, so be it. I understand about being out of room. My machines are almost touching each other on one side, just to fit them all. My "final" machine is Tetris, and it's my only JAMMA machine. Though the CP is not good for multi-games (one button & 3-way stick). I wouldn't mind getting an optional CP in there to switch out boards when needed (it's a Dynamo cab). Maybe I'll hit you up for advice on building one, since you're local?
