Hi folks;
I have a Hero In the Castle of Doom that once was a donkey kong, I'm takin' it back how it was originally, so I have the kit stuff for sale.
This was an eprom kit to change a working Donkey Kong board into a Hero In the Castle Of Doom board.
I'm not so sure if there's any documentation around, so here's what I found. If you want to have this for an extra game you can play in your Donkey Kong, here's your chance, tested, working. I've heard that it will also work on a Jr. board, but I'm not certain of that.
Included: Marquee, some scratches, looks pretty good though.
CPO, some scratches, looks pretty good. Notice there's no place for a jump button, this game was more of a maze game. You try to gather items on the screen, and avoid the large balls rolling towards you... a LITTLE BIT of an Indy rip off, lol.
To convert it, follow this:
1. Remove the CPU chip @ 7C on the cpu board, and install the daughterboard which has a cpu chip a couple roms and some other stuff. The two roms are 2764's and are marked with a red and a white dot.
2. Remove all the roms in 5A-5E, leave these empty.
3. Remove the roms in 3F and 3H, and replace them with the silver dot 2716 rom @ 3H.
4. Remove 2F and 2E, the color proms, and replace them with the two labeled 2F and 2E.
5. Switch to the Video board, and remove the color prom @ 2N... replace it with the new prom labeled 2N.
6. Remove the two roms at 3N and 3P, and replace with the Pink dot 2716 @ 3N, and the black dot 2716 @ 3P.
7. Remove the four roms at 7C,D,E,&F, and replace with the gold dot 2716 @ 7C, the orange dot 2716 @ 7D, the Yellow dot 2716 @ 7E, and the purple dot 2716 @ 7F.
Plug the board in, and play it!
This sounds more complicated than it is, you've got 7 eproms to switch, 3 color pallete proms, and a cpu/daughterboard.
If you were going to do this I would suggest just having a dedicated board to switch in and out. Also you can play it with the Donkey Kong control panel, the only difference is the artwork and the jump button isn't used.
$65 shipped anywhere in the continental U.S.A.
