These are very nice irons in good shape. They all have the improved model 907 handpieces which I believe are from the current models Hakko makes, not the older model 903 these originally came with. They are all preset for 700° and I never changed it as it wasn't really necessary. To change temp you need to insert a "control card" into the slot (I think Hakko has them for $3.77), or cut a jumper inside. I have a tip temp gauge and have calibrated them.

I have seven of these.
First person to respond gets the one with the iron holder (foreground), after that I think I have 4 more holders that are actually for the 807 pencil desoldering irons but it's better than nothing if you want one (background.) and for the rest, just grab a holder from radio shack.

$65 shipped each. $60 without a holder.

Brick Top nabbed the first one..

for reference:
This 939 card looks identical to the card pictured in the 929 manual -- there are two optical beams inside the slot that the card interrupts.

To disable the temperature lockout feature on the 939:

  • Remove L6 from the optical sensor board inside the unit. This will cause the temperature controller to permantently ready as through a key card has been inserted and allow the temperature to be changed
