Does this PCB have a suicide battery? Sorry new to these types of boards. Do all have them or only a certain few?

As far as I know, SEGA published GOLDEN AXE on SEGA-16 hardware. So, the board came stock with a suicide battery over the CPU inside a BIG BLACK box and one (or two?) encrypted ROMS.. So, when the battery dies, then the game fails to boot up. But, some really smart folks figured out a way to revive dead SEGA boards by decrypting the start up keys and replacing the CPU.

But, in any event, good price for a working GOLDEN AXE board.

my understanding is that not all Sega-16 games came with suicide batteries. i have both a Golden Axe and an Altered Beast, both sans suicide batteries and obvious phoenixing.

This does not have the suicide battery, noticed the security processor in the upper right of that image. It won't suicide.
(I've gotten to know the hardware pretty well. And that's a dirt cheap price, they usually start at $45 pre-shipping)

What a super clean PCB, works perfect thanks again! I've always wanted this one *_*

Wow! Congrats on that one...what a great price!
My folks played in numerous bowling tournaments when I was a kid and Golden Axe was sandwiched between Pac-Mania and TMNT. My brother and I would spend hours between those three, but were mostly drawn to Golden Axe....a classic for sure :)

Yea, I always use to play this at a quicky mart by my House. I got it down to beating it with just 50 cents, but that was a long long time ago :)

My favorite was Tyris Flare, her DRAGON was awesome!

good times...

Neat.

Yeah, they had a G.A. in the game room at my local pizza joint. Game was always packed. AX (the Barbarian) and GILIUS (the Dwarf) were popular pics cause their magic levels filled up fast. My buddies liked to play AX. I like to play Tyris--cause her magic looks cool and kicks ass. :) Can't recall if I/we ever beat the game with less than a buck. :D In any event, I like this game. IMHO, it's really good all around.
