FS/FT in SoCal *SAN FRANCISCO RUSH the ROCK ALCATRAZ EDITION*

Selling or trading this NON functional sit down driver.
Was working upon delivery to my house (or so they said...)
Since they drove 2 hours to bring it,.i still traded for it, figuring it was worth more than my Marvel Vs Street Fighter even if it wasnt working..
I know NOT how to fix this.
While all i want is a dang sit down, i feel forced to sell or trade, since my tech will charge me $200 JUST TO COME AND DIAGNOSE,.
If anyone is interested in a project in great condition, other than the fact its not functioning, let me know!
Im willing to trade for another racer, and i can throw in some cash...
Or whatcha got?
I also know NOTHING of this game, or its quality, as i NEVER got to see it or play it.
So if i got a POS for my Marvel Vs, feel free to let me have it!
I also have an original Altered Beast in great working condition i can throw into a trade!..
and a VERY NICE Ms Pac MARQUEE with no chips or scratches..(totaly random i know..)

Before you sell.....

I have one and I had some issues with it too, before you dump it. let's see if we can figure out what is wrong. Most times it is simple. Do you know anything about games at all? Sorry to ask, but It will make it easier to explain stuff.

Things you need to check:

Power supply
Fuses
All connections
Switches

Does the game play blind? (sound works but no picture) Does anything happen (any lights etc.. when you flip it on?

Lots of folks on this site can help you fix stuff and usually it is either something loose or a cheap part that was dinged in transit.

$200 just to diagnose, wow! Where is that guy coming from, the bay area?

Post what you think is going on with the game here.. maybe you can find someone local who could lend a hand..

Looks like you got one in nice shape, don't give up on one of the best driving games so easy..

Pretty sure rush the rock is jamma medium rez. so if you have access to a crusin board, pretty sure you can power it up to test the power/monitor. or you can probably take the rush board to crusin cab to see if it works..

no power

There is no power,
the fuse that sticks out of the power supply snapped off in the move.
The fuse is gone, the holder snapped, half on the ground, half dangling around still conected in the power supply.
There are a few loose wires, one to the power supply, one to the fan above the board on the left side, and one down UNDER the boards in the extra cab. Its a black power looking cord, that something would plug into,.this cord wouldnt plug into a wall say, it is the recieving end of something...
but i assume the PS, with its broken fuse/holder is the culprit or part of it...
This was a good game?
I have never played it...

Fix it up and keep it. Youll be glad you did.

Post some photos of the damage, but I'd say start by replacing that broken fuse and holder. A quick Radio Shack run will solve that issue.

$200 just to come and diagnose, seriously? What ever happened to free estimates?

thnx

thnx again guys..
i guess i did well then with this game?
I had a tough decision to make after it didnt turn on, and havnt been sure if i did OK.
A working, but ugly Marvel Vs SF for a nice NON working SF Rush the Rock.
I will post pix ASAP!
thnx

I know nothing about Marvel Vs. SF, but I would have made that trade in a heartbeat as long as the Rush is complete. One of the best driving games around for sure.

Heres a gameplay video I found...

I think I have a short video of mine on my channel as well, but in attract mode with a minor monitor issue I'm having, IIRC.

OK

OK guys,.
he got it running,.fixed the PS,.
BUT,.
upon power up, a fuse blew and died,.
he located the prob to the BOARD NEXT TO THE FAN ON THE FAR LEFT.
Is this the steering board?
easy to fix/replace?

Update

OK.
The board on the left blew so bad, it snapped a resistor or something..
My tech disconnected the monitor and steering,
said something about could be a short where they meet, or something...
not really sure what the monitor was needed for, but he took the monitor out, and steering board out.
He then turned it on....got a fully functional game, minus monitor.
No shorting.
Plays blind.
gas and shifter, music behind the head,.everything working, ...just no monitor.
He says hes taking it to a place called P&L or something..
says either the short is in the chasis, which is shorting the steering board..or its just the steering board..
either way he took both, said it would be $65 for the place to tell him what to do, and get the parts he needs...
says he will be back Fri, and he is certain, he will have it fully functional.
So, to recap, it is now playing blind, and not shorting, after 20 mins of letting it play blind.
Fri, it should be done, with nothing more than $100 out of pocket! =)
HOWEVER....
the tech is downplaying quality of this game.
He says any game with a hard drive is crap..
he says HIS sit downs, like Cruis N world (australian version) dont have these hard drives,..
and that they are better,.
he says AFTER he gets it going, he will trade me the Australian Cruis N World for my San Fran Rush AND $100 cash...
He insists this game, SF Rush is NOT desirable...
Should i trade this SF Rush for ANY other racer,.let alone a Cruis N World?

If your talking about earning money, crusin will beat rush every time. the reason being, the tracks are shorter and the game play makes it very hard to beat the computer to get the free contine. Crusin usally does this by sticking a obstacle or an impossible turn right at the finish to keep you from having any chance..

If you were to play both games I am sure you will like the rush better. Rush has better steering feedback.

They only reason why you might want the crusin world is that its much easier to move (cabinet should be on wheels). Not sure why he has an australian crusin world.. It would seem to me that a menu setting should fix that.

yea

its a TOTALY Aussie machine, complete with backwards gear shifters (on left hand side) and steering assembly to the left.
He plans on reversing everything somehow....
My SF Rush is actually on wheels.
Aparently it wasnt meant to come apart in 2 pieces either, but it does.
I leave it as 1 unit, and roll it around.
So,.if he had a minty backwards Aussie edition Cruis N World...would it be worth trading for my SF RUSH which is minty?

They are worth about the same, so decide which game you like better. IMO, Rush is an awesome game, probably more highly sought after than any Cruis'n game, so I would keep it.

Only reason he's saying games with hard drives suck is because hard drives will fail eventually. With the technology today though, you can lose the hard drive and put a flash drive in relatively cheap. I've yet to do that to my drivers but will get around to it someday. There are forum members that could help you with the flash update, I can point you to at least one of them.

ok

cool,.another person who votes my SF Rush!
He also has 2 racers called Off Road Challenge by Midway..
are these good?
he is offering one of these for my SF Rush if not Cruis N
Any info on this game,.and thank you guys for the info and price checks.

Love my Rush's. Get a 2nd one and link them. So much fun playing against someone else! I'm no expert on the game from a repair standpoint as mine worked fine from the time I got them, but if you ever want to convert to flash cards rather than the stock hard drive, I'd be glad to help (as would others here I'm sure). It was pretty easy and cheap. I think it ran me in the neighborhood of $30 total for the 2 rush's. If you search for "rush chdman" here on klov I'm sure you can find out what's involved pretty easily.
