FYI, if you use a Merlin, you can use any rev PCB with any of the modern players that Merlin supports.
These days, there's little reason to use a 7820 or v1000 IMO (if you can even find a working one), as the newer players are much better in terms of seek time, reliability, etc.
Andy, I completely agree, but there are those that want original. Just last week, I setup a DL and SA to use a Dexter and Merlin. Great stuff and Shaun Wood was very helpful.
When the Dexters are run again I'll have to get one.

Well, as I say, there are two types of DL owners - ones that are using a Merlin, and ones that will be.
I'm all for keeping things original, but in this case the original players have a fixed shelf life, due to the laser tubes, which weaken and can't be replaced. (Is anyone actually even still reliably running an original player? I personally don't know of any myself.) Not worth the hassle IMO. But to each his own...
