*ducks* figured I'd get that kind of response, obviously Ebay price is what I'd be looking for on this community website. Open to offers and ideas, what would this thing be worth? It is a pretty nice DK3. Or am I off base? I havent seen too many of them thats for sure.

Thanks guys,
John

Originally DK JR, still has the DK JR Marquee... let me know if you have any questions or offers. Controls are solid 7 out of 10 responsive but used. Side art is a little banged up but not disgusting. Overall sweet arcade!

Thanks for lookin fellas!

hey i grew up in Cherry hill. there was an awsome free standing arcade called "ballys great escape" right across the street from the cherry hill mall

I miss the 90s, lots of awesome arcade action all over the Cherry Hill, south jersey area. Exhilarama at the Echelon Mall was my favorite! In-door rollercoaster bro! lol

Yet i see qbert modified cabs goin for $950 /boggle

There are quite a few games that are (falsely?) sought-after on this forum. Stuff that a few years ago, I would have NEVER guessed would be popular.

Food Fight? About 10 years ago I sold one for $150, and had to pull teeth to get that for it. Now, it fetches some nice money.

There are games I turned away by large numbers "back in the day" for $200 or less that are worth money today. I can't think of examples off of the top of my head right now, but trust me... When I see them, I think... WHAT!?? THAT GAME is worth money now?! Heheh.

Flavor of the month, I suppose.

*bump* taking offers on the DK. According to the feedback I am getting here dumping $$$ on repro art to restore it to mint condish isnt gonna fetch me any more or less for the value of the arcade, so I aint gonna bother.

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I'm just being honest.

There are a lot of problems with selling that particular DK3

First, DK3 was a much less popular game than DK or DK Jr. Your avage joe probably doesn't even know it existed. You'd probably do better by taking it back to a DK Jr. but I still don't think you'd get $900.

Second, that cab is far from perfect. It's a particle board cab, which isn't necessarily bad but isn't as desirable as the plywood cabs made in Japan. There back edges are rough, the bottom front looks a little chewed up. The CP isn't right. The buttons aren't right. It's got a DK Jr. maquee. The sidart is messed up. It's dirty. The T-molding is wrong. And that's just looking at the pictures, which are almost always deceiving because you can't see all the little flaws.

If you had a mint or near mint DK or DK Jr. with all original hardware and art in beautiful shape, with a plywood cab, that hadn't been repainted you might be able to fetch that sort of price to the right buyer. Or, if you had a genuine red DK, with all the original art and hardware in very good shape you could propbably get your $900.00. Or, if you were in the retail business, had a store front, were offering warranties, and selling to a non-eBay/KLOV market you might be able to get $900.00 with some minor restoration.

If you keep that cab up on eBay for a year you might be able to find somebody with no knowledge who would pay $900. You're probably looking at around $400, more or less, for that machine on KLOV. A recapped monitor means just about nothing to people here since that's such a cheap and easy fix.

You know, all that being said, I applaud you for not stripping the thing down and turning it into a MAME or doing some sort of botched restoration. I just personally think that to get the sort of buzz you'd need to sell a DK or DK Jr. for $900 you'd need to have a near perfect specimen or a red cab DK. I've seen Red DKs in decent shape sit for sale for $800 and not move.

Q*Bert is an entirely different beast. I just don't think it's a good comparrison.

Anyway, that's my take. I'm definately not offended by the asking price, I just think it's too high (like just about every DK cab you see on eBay). I wonder whether some of these people would be better off listing at $300 and hoping to get some bidding wars. I don't know, maybe some of these things sell for $1200 or $1500 but I havn't seen it.

Quick question that I didn't see answered here:
Were there "dedicated" DK3 cabs made?
I was under the impression that all DK3's were conversions. :)

I gave away the lil chew up orange DK jr cab while ago shell

let s say and look at the parts

Gameboard $80
Harness $25
Monitor $125
CP$45
Bezel $45
Marquee $20
Coin/assemble $50
Wheels $20
Lock w keys $5
Power Supply Kit $60

Other little parts $25

Total $500 With or with out Shipping Quotes.

Cabinet Shell does really reveal the price . As a bad/good Joke: If Cabinet s in darn damn nicest compared to your spouse/wife It could run more money! =) I gave out orange shell awhile back then for free because it doesnt look prettier compared to my wife. I give out free! =)

This is why it goes around $400 +/- due to bundle deal

Yeah, DK3 was just a conversion.
No such thing as a "dedicated" DK3.

Which is what made me look at this post.

I'm guessing the OPs use of the word "dedicated" isn't being used as "we" usually use it; meaning all original but instead meaning it ONLY plays DK3.

I think I mention in the ad that DK3s were operator kits, if not my apologies. I meant dedicated in that its a Nintendo Cab that plays only the DK3. Man, some people get real touchy around here, relax ya'll. lol
