FS: Consolized Sammy Atomiswave

I don't think we even know what this is ;)

I just googled it and my pc is older than it is. I hope you're plugging it on those other forums as well (NG one sounds like a close match), and good luck nonetheless.

It an Atomiswave consolized and modded to work in your Home Television setup. It works brilliantly on any HDTV or SDTV. Think of plugging your arcade games directly into your TV and playing them - thats what this is except its an Atomiswave.

Check here for more info: http://www.arcadeshock.com/items/pr...use-version-2-atomsyscons-hardware-detail.htm

The cheapest you can find them otherwise is over $800.

Feel free to PM me or post here if anyone has any questions and I'd be happy to answer!

i know they go for a penny. such an expensive conversion though for a platform that has hardly any games. and hardly any good ones. hokuto no ken is bad ass tough =)

Not going to have much luck selling that here. People on this forum actually own arcade cabinets.

you have to consider that non-consolized atomiswave prices dropped significantly the last few months/years. Now it's something like 180 USD, and a consolized version should not add more than 120 USD to that price.

And as of 2011, the purpose of a consolized version is questionable : the correct atomiswave video interface is VGA (no conversion required for today's TVs), and a cheap supergun can hook the power supply and the controls.

Now some buyers may want one, but let's not overpromote its features or hide the facts.

Well, regardless of what it should or should not have, it does have a video converter, has been modded for stereo out, has additional test/service buttons, includes power supply, and the like, joystick ports... I personally find it hard to swallow that all of that is only worth $120 labor included. Including paypal fees that's like me buying all of the hardware and having someone put it together for $5.

Meanwhile, there are people on here doing battery mods and z80 chip replacements for $40/ pop + shipping.

Doesn't really matter to me because I'm not buying or selling it, just saying I can't see anyone giving it away for such a price just because the demand is niche.

Agree, I want a Atomiswave but I rather spend only $100 for one that I can throw in a Candy Cabinet.
Kane

I humbly agree you guys.

But, best of luck with the FS thread.

:)

I believe you misread what he said.. He said the system is selling for around 180.00 right now. Actually it's cheaper.. He's saying the asking price of $549 means that the labor and parts to consolize the system is being priced at a differance of $369. That is a pretty big mark up from a regular version at 180 or so. I could see asking around 300 or so.

Consolized arcade systems have always gone for a premium from "those" who make them, and it's one reason I've always thought they were dumb.

I've seen this guy selling this same one on ebay with no bids, guess he's giving KLOV a try.

No. He said that consolizing it shouldn't add more than $120 to the price of just the board. He didn't say anything about the asking price of the seller, the difference, or anything of that nature. He said that consolizing it shouldn't add more than $120.
The hardware alone costs around that.

He never said anything of the sort.

read between the lines smart guy. It's implied and he's right...

Actually you haven't seen me selling them. I have never sold any consolized unit on eBay. You are thinking of Neotropolis, who sells them for $765 and Arcade Shock who sells them for $829.

Also, they are never even available to be bid on, they are all for sale at BUY IT NOW. So not sure how you are seeing one listed with no bids?

Now some people do overprice their consolized units, but I do think that $549, being $216 cheaper than the cheapest you can find anywhere else, period, is not overpriced. These take a serious amount of time to build.

Thank you for posting a bunch of ignorant nonsense, but you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

I am in at least $300 for parts and the console. I don't use cheap crap parts, only high quality heavy duty stuff, this isn't amateur work here. Also, you can still use the VGA output on this.

On top of that, it took me 20+ hours to build this since it was my first time consolizing an Atomiswave. Its not the easiest unit to consolize, next to no space internally for parts, lots of tedious maneuvering to deal with.

I didn't build it to sell and make obcene profits, I built it because I enjoy modding. In the end its not even worth it for the profit. This thing was a serious pain in the ass. I would never build one again.

Regardless, it has been built exceptionally, with high quality parts, has many high quality video outputs, stereo sound, test/service buttons. It works perfectly and looks brilliant and vivid on an HDTV.

I'm a heavy arcade hardware modder myself, so this wasn't just small talk ^^

Just some info to the potential buyers :
if one wants to use an Atomiswave on a HDTV, he better uses the VGA output.
There's no need for a video converter between an Atomiswave and a HDTV set, except maybe if there is some high-end upscaling involved, which is not mentioned.
There is some interest for a SDTV set though (if it has no RGB input).

In my first post, as some guessed, the labor (and know-how) is not included, so it has also to be taken in consideration and be added to the price of the parts and the original motherboard.

About the good quality parts you are talking about, maybe you can post some more details about the ones included in your project, they should speak for themselves : what brand of video converter, what power supply, gold plated connectors etc.

No need to read between the lines.

The only thing I drew issue with was the remark that this item should only cost $120 more than the board itself when the hardware added to this particular piece alone is that. Any of us can see or refer to the difference in price. I've no opinion on that.

Might be true for most people. For me, all of my consoles are on a 50" Panasonic plasma which has in my experience, the very best picture for games hands down (which is why I still use it exclusively for gaming) and it has no VGA input.
