I know I'm going to regret this but here goes...

About 10 years before Atari came out with their Lunar Lander game, a company called Cointronics put out an electromechanical Lunar Lander game. This is that game.

With this game you must pilot your Lunar module down the moon's surface using the control panel buttons and land inside a lit crater.
You get 5 turns per game and you are rated on the number of sucessfull landings.

The game features actual dialog from the Apollo 11 mission. This is via an 8-track
player in the game that also controls the assent of the lunar module after each landing.

The game is complete but not fully working. The 8-track unit needs a bit of work. I have
the 8-track cartridge with the tape and it is fine. I've had the dialog copied to a CD
in case the tape should ever go bad a copy of the recording would still exist. I believe
this game to be a copy of another moon landing game from 1970 called Space Flight by Bally.

I can play a game without the sound by using an internal reset switch after I have landed
so it is possible to play the game.

I've never seen another one of these games and believe not many were built. I bought this
particular game from a auction house in New York and had it shipped to me around 2001 so
I've had it 10 years now.

I also have a copy of the schematics for the game. I do not have a very good picture of the sideart
but the sides are white Formica type material with a drawing of a landing Lunar
Lander heading to the surface of the moon in blue. The game really is in fantastic
cosmetic shape and looks beautiful when turned on and lit up.

All in all, a very rare EM game that you'll probably never see or hear about again. I'm
asking 1,500.00 for it. Not interested in trades at the moment. I would prefer not to
have to ship this. It is BIG and heavy.

Thanks for reading.
Tom

Very interesting, but appeals to a very limited audience. Maybe Mcclemore would be interested...

I've seen these before but only in pictures. It's a very cool piece and I'd love to see it in person. I can't afford to buy it....but I bet if you brought it to CAX someone there would snatch it up at that price fast.

Plus then others could play it before it disappears!

Good thought...only I'd have to hang around it for the entire show to show you how to use the reset button inside to play the game...

I guess I could mention that I can bring it to CAX if someone buys it before hand and wanted to pick it up there.

Seen and played the game before at a malibu arcade I think.
1.5K is cheap. I would have to sell bits and peices of my current collection to have it.
I bet you some Nasa collector would just love to have this but I am sure he or she would want it repaired.

All PM's replied to.

Yeah, I'm thinking I priced it too low too based on the inquiries but having never seen another one for sale, knowing what I have into it, and it not fully working I thought it was probably a fair price.
