FS Bartop Cabinet Kits

and not to be a prick because i really did just post that to poke fun but, you are using melamine is what 24$ for an 8 foot sheet? what can you do out of that 2 maybe 3 cabs?

There is a lot more to consider then the cost of material. I use a high quality melamine with a 70/30 mix of hardwood/softwood. I also have these cabinets cnc machined, I have them run the cnc at half speed to reduce chipping. Half speed means double the time and i pay by the hour. Never mind having the t-mold slot cut and all the wood supports that i cut and hand paint. I only wish i could get theses cabs as cheap as you guys think i do.

Pete...

You brought this downpour upon yourself. The vast majority of folks here would take exception to this comment you made earlier:

I have sold many cabs on other forums.. They ,like myself like new machines in mint condition, not beat up cabs that I'm embarrassed to have in my garage.
This was surely the wrong foot to start out with... most of the folks here take pride in their machines... and just because they're 30 years old, that doesn't mean they are pieces of shit. I know that no shit cabs make it in to my gameroom and I'd imagine a good number of folks here maintain a similar policy.

Also... most of the folks here aren't the MAME type and you're surely not going to be dropping an arcade monitor and PCB in to those little guys. The crowd over at BYOAC (of which I am also a member) would certainly be more your market.

Now I don't agree with the price policing going on in this thread, but really, your attitude just egged it on. It got to a point where it was less about price policing and more about pissing "the jerk" off. Now, I am not saying you're a jerk as I don't know you, but the attitude coming from your direction was very evident from the get-go.

Next thread you might want to simply advertise your wares and cut the `tude a bit. You could have simply said "Hey, $135 is my asking price... if you've got a different idea, feel free to PM me." or "There's easily $135 worth of work in to these cabs". Anyone price policing isn't interested in what you have to sell anyway and anyone interested in what you have to sell knows the value of what it is you're selling and isn't going to be swayed by a PP comment or two.

You also could have simply reported and price policing responses and ignored them. I guarantee that if you'd done that, this thread wouldn't be multiple pages long and filled to the brim with people pissed off at you (and vice-versa).

Maybe a Pic of a completed CAB with monitor, controls etc.. might have helped also(to show full potential). Good luck with your sales elsewhere.

Well, i saw this thread, since i kinda make the same thing. Maybe Pete is having these cutout on someone else's equipment? I own mine, so i try to keep the price down, maybe pete can't cause he has to pay someone to cut all these out. Melamine, i paid 35.00 a sheet for here, and it's straight particle board core. My plywood is an import, and it's 38.99 a sheet, if i buy 40 sheets it 34.99 + tax + 90.00 delivery charge. Lots of variables involved, maybe pete is only making 40.00 a cab with having to have them cut out, not sure.

I'm not going to bash anyone who is trying to bring NEW product to our forgotten market. Myself, I'm waiting to see Brett's countertop cab he has on his 'To Do List' that keeps getting longer, lol :)

For the record, I'm proud of my old beat-up cabs. Frizz is right about that remark. I'm not offeneded for I understoof the point you were trying to make. Many here have PMS 30 days a month :) Doesn't take much to flip their switch.

TIP: Add a coin door! It will make it look more like an arcde than a bookshelf.

$60 to ship?? Hmm..When I ran a UPS Store, a box that size and weight for a delicate pack would be around $35 and maybe $20 or so for actual UPS. That item is not delicate and wouldn't require double boxing and lots of packing materials. In fact, the cabinet could be shipped dissasembled and flat (like Ikea) for a fraction of that shipping price.

I remember pricing the 3/4" stuff here locally, and it was $60 or so. But it was thicker than 5/8"...
