FS: Atari ARII Boards $25shipped each or discount for multi orders

I have a BIG stack of Atari AR II boards, trying to sell them all off... $25shipped each or i will give you a GOOD deal if you buy 2 or more

PM me!
thanks!

you'll probably want to list the -0X code as well since each board is specific to one or a few games.

it's usually written in pen along with the rest of the board number as they did not screen the -0X codes on the boards or put 'em on stickers.

if you can't figure it out due to missing markings, you may want to post some fairly detailed pictures and i'm sure people can identify most if not all from the layout and connectors.

Someone made this quote to me...

They were all A035435. A few had -02 written in ink. I don't know how to tell the difference between revisions, but I do know that a later series were made to be backwards compatible as drop-in replacements for a rev 01 and so forth. Atari did this so all new boards could serve as field replacements for old failing units.

Does this statement ring true above?

You see according to the elektron forge website I need these
(Pole Position I and II (A035435-01) - 2 req'd)

I need to reaffirm this so I can make a decision on what to buy. I mean the website says I need -01's for my PP. It doesn't say anything about them being backwards compatible.

Thanks

For Pole Position you can use -01, -02, -03, or -04.

later revisions are not just drop in replacements for earlier revisions.

if you look at the chart on Elektron Forge's site, you will see that -01 and -05's have only +5v, -02 & -03 has all voltages (+5, -5, +12, +22, and -22,) -04 has +5, +22 and -22, and rev -06 has all the voltages but no audio circuit.

if you look at the notes at the bottom of the page, -02 and -03 may look the same with the same voltages but they are not as -03 passes more current and games that call for a -03 may not function properly with a -02.

and as for the A034485's used in Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe, they are interchangeable but you will get garbled audio if you use the wrong one.

so yeah, you need the proper revision for your game. i believe the connectors are often different as well which should give you a clue you've got the wrong board.

All of the AR-I's and AR-II's are pin-compatible with each other (with the exception of the MUTE signal on AR-I's). AR revisions with less voltages than the game requires will not work correctly of course, but AR's with a superset of required voltages will work just fine. The differences between AR-II revs -02 and -03 are the amount of current available on the -5V and +12V lines. Typically this won't make a difference (ie. a -02 will work fine in a Missile Command) unless perhaps you're running 2708's on a board in place of 2716's.

Games that take -01's will run fine with a -02, -03, or -04.

Also, the only connector that might be different among the AR's is J8 (IIRC) on the AR-I. It comes in both a square and inline configuration.

they are all untested because i have no way of testing them, hence the cheap price.. i have seen tested ones sell for $60+ each
