I know it's been awhile since anyone posted in this thread, but I wanted to share my sign now that it's painted. I didn't have a chance until today to paint it. I tried some acrylic paints with brushes as a test in some smaller areas. That came out way too messy and caused it to splash over the black. So, I went with paint pens. When I was done coloring, I went over all the black areas with a black paint pen, to make sure there weren't any stray colors anywhere. Kinda messed up in two spots around the outer border and got black on it, but oh well.
Here's the end result. It was still drying some when I took the pic a few minutes ago. I probably won't be needing the paint pens anymore, so if anyone wants them, I'll sell them at half the price I brought them for today. There are even a few colors in the pack I didn't use.
Edit: The mouth area didn't look right, so I looked around at Mario pictures. The flesh colored area under his moustache appears it should be white, so I changed it. Attaching a quick kinda blurry pic of that one. I think it looks better.
