FS: 7 inch LCD Monitors

Anyone find a decent solution for the missing plugs? Mine is not going to have them...

Ok, I was right about the Normal vs Wide mode operation. If you apply +5V to pin 8 it will run in a 4:3 aspect ratio with the black bars on the sides. If you do not connect anything to pin 8 it will default to stretched mode. Please see the attached shots of my IIgs screen again. Once I made a real connector so that I can see the Blue background it is more obvious that it was stretched in my original tests.

These are nice little displays. :cool2:

Cool. I am going to put a switch in mine to allow me to switch from wide to normal... :D

I agree, these are very nice... Need a few more of these...

I got mine today, and played around with it tonight. I almost screwed up really bad though. I was building a test harness, and when I cut the connectors on the monitor cable, I cut the wrong side! Instead of cutting by the long connector, I cut the side by the two separate ones. Luckily I had left enough to splice onto anyway.....barely. That"ll teach me to wire something without my music playing.

These little things work great. Once I get my new test rig finished, I post a picture (I'm sure some will find it amusing.)

I should have trusted you.

Indeed nice screens. I have one dead/lit pixel in mine. No worries, it's my bench monitor now.

A thing of beauty.

Yours should have a set of cables attached. There were only two that didn't have cables and I made sure they went out to people that ordered a pair of monitors, so they would at least have one cable, so they would know what to look for to build a second set. Not a perfect solution, but the best I could come up with at the time.

PS: Thanks to everybody who has sent iTrader responses. I appreciate the feedback.

Glad you were able to splice onto what was left. I do recommend just using a little jewlers screw driver to pop the pins oot of the largest connector for those that have not modified their cables yet. That way you get the maximum amount of cable length possible on the existing connector.

Please don't forget to leave iTrader feedback on your buyers. ;)

It's on its way. I haven't played with the iTrader much yet, I didn't know I could leave seller feedback. I am so used to Epay's "thanks for paying, jerk" seller feedback I never paid it much attention on here.

Now I need to check my shipping list to make sure I don't slight anyone.

So here's my new portable JAMMA test rig. I still need to make the control panel and pretty it up, but you get the picture. Fully self contained, thanks to this awesome little monitor! (I was gonna use it for a mini machine for the car, but I would have needed two for that project)

Love it! BTW, got a coin box I can borrow? :D

I regret only buying 1 too. I was going to build a mini cab...

That is very cool. I was thinking more about a flip up unit where the monitor folded down like a laptop and was recessed so it would go over the buttons and have the joysticks just past the end of the monitor case.

Code:
++
||
||        o
++--=-=---|-+
| | side view top open
+-----------+

+-------+ o
+-------+-|-+
| | side view top down
+-----------+

I know, I should probably have drawn it in paint and uploaded the bitmap.

Just curious, Other than Arcade monitors(bench monitor or mini arcades), what else could you use these for (VGA wise) given there limited 480x234 resolution?

Well, they are basically CGA and support anamorphic wide screen. So anything you can get converted to Analog RGB at a CGA resolution is a prime candidate. Most of the old 8-bit computers would fit in that category as an example. Anything that targets a TV could probably be down converted to it.
