how to you get a frozen horizontal width coil loose? i got a 4900 stuck and chad at arcadecup says he's working on it but no avail yet. tried turning it both directions with a alignment tool and it wont budge.

Usually if they are that stuck, there's not much you can do. Too much force and it'll just break the core. I have broken stuck cores completely out and then been able to finess a new core into them, but you take the chance of getting the new core stuck. You're better off just replacing the coil assembly.

With everything unpluged use a standard steel Alan wrench, it will break it free. Sometimes it will take the core with it, Sometimes not. I think Bob Roberts sells the whole thing if it breaks.
Best of luck on your project.

After it breaks just change the ceramic capacitor value to adjust the screen size. It worked for my 4900.

wont budge even with an allen wrench. it can't get a good grip, doesnt fit properly. i have 2 sets of different size allen wrenchs and none fit...i guess i'll just wait for the repros.

Fudd,
I went down and checked in my scrap pile, and found a 4900 with a good width coil, core is nice and free.
PM me your mailing address, and I'll get it out to you, or if your out near Mattawan/Lawton you can stop in and pick up.
Aaron
