Hi guys,
Souzilla's FrontLine High Score save kit is nearing completion. As such, I'm starting a list for those wishing to be notified when they are available for purchase. Please chime in if you are interested in a kit. I'll be importing names and contacting folks from savit4laters original thread :)

Taking prepayments this week. I need to buy parts and dont want to do this without commitment from people. You can send payment to [email protected] with front line hss in the message.
will likely ship the following week. The kits are $45 shipped.

The code is about 90% done, just fixing a few glitches. I was hoping it would be done by now but I got pneumonia and did not make any progress on it for about a week.

I imagine you can't wait to get your board back :)
Almost there
That would be the case if Wild Western were not such an awesome and totally underrated and under appreciated game. I'm totally digging this game, the replay value is phenomenal! Well okay you're right, a little Frontline would be cool too. :)

Just got a few glitches fixed. I will be surprised if I can not finish this by this weekend.
Does anyone not have the pcb pictured below? I hear there is another version of the pcb out there. If anyone does NOT have the version with 10 eproms on the very top board please let me know

I do not have the pcb shown above. Mine has 8 ROMs on the smallest top board and 2 on the second bigger board. Is this a problem?

Not a problem, just a little more work. The version you have has twice as many program roms because they are on 2732 instead of 2764 eproms. Also, need to find out where the ram is on that board so it can be replaced with nvram. I only have the ability to test the board shown above, but it will likely work. Do you have an eprom programmer? I could send you the roms to try out to confirm everything will still work

Does your pcb look like this: http://www.crazykong.com/pcbs/T - Z/WildWestern.pcb.html
I think the program roms are on the bottom board on your pcb. Could you send me a couple of hi-res pics when you have a moment?

Sorry, I don't have a eprom programmer. And yes, that is my board! Do you want me to post here or send to an email address? If an email, send me a pm and either way, I should be able to get these to you tomorrow.

Thanks!

If that is your board then I do not need the pictures. The code should run fine on the board, I just don't have one to test. After the kit is done for the board I posted, I will try and track down the other boardset and get it working.

Ok, let me know if you need them. Thanks for all your work on this!

I worked on this some more this weekend and thought I would send an update.

All the code the free play and coin drop with attract is done.
All the code for the high score table is done.

I did a lot of testing this weekend (MAME) to see if it is ready for the final round of testing on real hardware. One of the tests I do is to let the game run in attract mode for a couple of hours. I never thought of doing this before but a glitch in the Karate Champ high score save kit made me add this to my testing :)

So, good news and bad news.

The good news is that the code seems pretty close, only one issue found during testing.
The bad news is that it is a doozie.

It turns out that any change to the program code causes the game to get wierd and freeze after about 30 minutes. I reversed all the code one module at a time to try and track it down. Got to the point where I reversed all the changes and just made one tiny change in an empty area of the rom that does not get run and fixed the checksum. The error still happens. Reverse the change and everything workd fine for hours.

So, it looks like if anything is changed (again, fixed the checksum) after about 30 minutes if attrace mode things get wonky and then it freezes. This was all done in MAME and I will test it out on real hardware but I suspect the same thing will happen.

This is the only blocking issue, I will fill everyone in as I make progress.
