Front Line control panel overlay

pm mxracer47 - he use to sell them several years ago, not sure if he stills has any but it's worth a shot.

I'd suggest to keep your original cpo unless its a total mess. The repro cpos that were produced a while back weren't that great.. Not high quality silkscreened lexan. Printing was ok, but the feel and durability of the repro are subpar.

I've installed (2) over the years and both cracked or separated from the cp. Its better than nothing, but not something I'd install if the original was decent.

The original CPO needs to be replaced,a repro would be far better then this worn out one.So still looking for one... :)

I got a repro from mxracer47 a year ago and IIRC he still had a couple left

I got mine from him as well.

Here is the original compared to the repro:

Local413- Sorry you had trouble with your overlays but I think yours must have been the prep of the panel or the installation being the problem. I have one that archer who made the overlays applied himself and has no cracks. It was powdercoated prior to application though. That was quite a few years ago.

No biggy, just disappointing when I'd taken the time to strip the original panel down to bare metal.. Then prime and paint it, once cured I applied the cpo.. So I'm comfortable to say the prep and application was spot on.

I bought my FL cpos from another collector whom may or may not have stored them in the best environment.. Like I said, the color and graphics were spot on. No complaints there.. Its the coating or protective layer/film that I had an issue with. As it was starting to separate on the edges. These cpos weren't die cut, so once applied holes needed to be cut for buttons, hardware, joystick.. This is also were the top layer started to separate once cut.. Not horrible, but after all that time and energy spent in prep and application it was a letdown.

Hell, I shouldn't complain.. As its the only cpo available and thankfully someone had it produced. There are other repro cpos out there (Williams, Atari, and some taito) that are a little thicker and have more of a solid feel to them.. Just wish these were the same.
