From RGP :New project: Bride of Pinbot with DMD and new software! (W.I.P.) Options

From RGP :

Hey guys,

During the P-ROC seminar saturdaymorning at Expo, a new project was
revealed by showing its introduction video.
At http://www.dutchpinball.com you can now see this video for
yourself; it shows what we have been working on for the last months (2
guys in spare time).

The short version is that we are working on new software for the Bride
of Pinbot (from scratch) and that we put in a dot matrix display which
will help to put the Bride's new rule sheet to a higher level. This
all thanks to the wonderful P-ROC board by Gerry Stellenberg
(pinballcontrollers.com) and the pyprocgame software framework by Adam
Preble.

So check out our website and let us know what you think!

It looked so cool I thought I would post it here.

Fun Fun,

That's pretty sweet !!, wonder how much the retrofit kit is going to cost any ideas ?

looks like the Proc board is $329 by itself. Add a DMD and the software and I bet it will be a pretty penny. A pretty penny I cannot wait to spend.

That video made me squeal like a little girl.

So looking at least $500.00 + whatever they want for the software
and the new DMD Display / Speaker panel.

Wow! That really looks awesome. I will be keeping on eye on this as it develops. I need a new display for my BOP, but maybe I hold out and see what becomes of this first?

Wow that truly is impressive and I can see those guys moving forward and developing for other games as well which for me is the best part. The audio side of it alone would (IMHO) majorly improve quite a few WPC and SYS11 games that have shitty audio and lame ass quotes (Whirlwind could use it for sure).

A few of my personal thoughts on it though. First of all I'm not a BOP fan at all. The table layout (IMHO) is lame. The face flipping is cool but the rest of it .... meh. Adding a DMD and new rule set to an otherwise stale PF .... well ..... I guess I just don't see the point of choosing this particular game (my personal feelings aside) when it's (STATISTICALLY) not considered to be one of the more popular games.
As a business decision I would've focused and dev'd for a game that is statistically more popular. After all that's how you make money right?
Lastly - adding a video game mode ...... I'm not sure how I feel about that. Yes it's not the first time it's been done but I want to play pinball not a video game.

The P-Roc guys didn't do the BOP stuff. It was the dutch pinball guys who are not directly affiliated with P-Roc (as far as I know). The P-Roc guys should be sending them a nice Christmas card this year because that video and their work is going to sell more than a few of their boards. I'm not sure if dutch pinball will be selling the software (I assume they will) but either way I'm sure people will buy it.

I was at the P-Roc seminar at expo and I was really impressed with the work they've done on the hardware and API. I think people were getting pretty bored hearing about Python programming syntax but when they showed that video people were really loving it.

Awesome! I'll definitely get this for my BoP.

Wouldn't it be an easy leap to do Funhouse as well after BoP?

Why waste money on an ok game like Bride of Pinbot? it's fine as it is now.

What they really need to do is take an absolute piece of shit pinball like F-14 and upgrade it with a new display and software.

+1 lol :d:)

If that was an pre-order option today I'd be be putting a dent in my wallet for sure.

The whole programming aspect - yeeesh I barely have enough time to play my pins let alone sit down and teach myself how to program.

I'm going to go visit RGP now and see how that crowd is viewing this. Plenty of die hard (keep it original and no mods) crowd ;)

Wow.

Their work is incredible! I applaud their effort, and thiunk this is awesome for Bride of PinBot.

I always thought of the awesomeness that Black Knight 2000 would have been with a DMD. Maybe sometime :) Maybe.

holy crap, that looks awesome!!!!

maybe there's hope for that wizard mode in who dunnit after all. :)

I agree on the BK2K. I might be up for getting this for my BOP.
