From Asteroids to Star Trek to Lunar Lander

Thanks guys. I'm actually going to recycle the Star Trek G80 cage for use in an Eliminator 4-player build I'm busily collecting parts for. Unfortunately it didn't come with the G80 power supply. Those are hard to actually find when your looking for them.
These days are starting to get hot now. Today I was outside fabricating the grab handle that goes on the back of the cabinet.
I also ran a test fit of the CP wood with the LL overlay and to my dismay I noticed the wood was bowed. The thing is brand new. I'll have to get with Brett and see if maybe he can run me another one. It would work, but why install something that's bowed to begin with? For existing LL guys - does your wooden CP selection panel bow in the middle over time? I mean, there is no support in the center at all for it.

Looking wonderful. God you are lucky, I am going through a similar build with a Cabal (Satan's Hollow cabinet) and I wish I were dedicating the time to something worthwhile.

Thanks guys. Very encouraging. Now it's pretty much in Dokerts' hands. You know the main trouble with any project is actually getting it to work after collecting all the parts.
Finally finished touching up the transformer. A little fresh paint on the brick. I should be able to reassemble it tonight. There is one wiring question I have on it, so Djw or any other mystro's of LL wiring, I hope your up to it. ;). I guess the only way for me to tell if I have a heartbeat is by plugging in the transformer and checking voltages on the pins.
This main copper strap has me worried.
But I'd like to take a pic of a wiring problem I see right off hand with the transformer before applying any power at all. Hard to describe without a photo. So please stay tuned.

As promised, here is the newly restored power supply. J4a concerns me though. Maybe I need to pull an Asteroids power supply, rather than referring to a raster PS, but I don't recall the purple wire from the transformer going directly to power J4a. I included a close up and a wide pan. Does everything look kosher?
I've always been accustomed to a wire off the pigtail connector going to J4a.

yes I forgot about the white ground lead up by the power brick threaded screw. I'm going out now to remedy that.

The schematics show that purple wire goes to pin 5 of J3 (voltage selection plug). But on the actual voltage selection plug, there's nothing there.
So basically the 120v from the yellow black coming from the transformer and the black wire coming from Pin4 of J3 are getting dead ended at the piggyback. Substituting 100v from the purple/blk for the 120v that SHOULD be going to it from the yellow/blk from transformer and blk wire from J3 pin4.
This is just odd. Was this done at the factory or..? what..
I guess the only thing this would effect is the marquee lamp, but it's still strange. Would this actually make the lamp dimmer? Or would it not function at all being it didn't have a full 110v to deal with?

I suggest convert it back to what the schematic says.

There was no factory mod like above. Probably just an attempt to fix something without a certain part.

Well, I changed it over to what the schematic calls for. But I'm becoming a little suspicious of this LL schematic (DP-136-3rd-01A) as it also calls for a Blue wire at J5 pin 10 and a Blue/White at P14. Both of which are supposed to eminate from the transformer. No Blue or Blue/White are coming from the transformer and pins 10/14 at J5 are both empty. Or would that be 12 and 14?
I found this out as I was going to attempt a few voltage measurements. I could just hook it up and hope for the best, but I'd rather test it out first.

I'm thinking I probably need to cross something at J2 in order to 'activate the power switch'. I don't believe just by plugging in the transformer at the bench that I can get any voltage readings that are accurate.

I saw a regular Asteroids on your VAPS.. Look at that power block.. Should be the same as lander IIRC, my machines are burried right now behind gorfs, or I would look :)

Right, was hoping perhaps someone else had one more easily accessible. I'll have to pull it out unscrew it and take a look underneath.

I found a picture of my Asteroids power brick when I replaced Big Blue and I did the same thing you did, I left one wire off on the left side of the Big Blue but I didn't find it till I found out the game didn't work and had to pull it back out. That's when I found I left the wire off. It looks like someone rewired yours.

Sam is it possible to see your J5 connector. I seem to have two empty sockets. The schematics say everything should have a wire. But I have no Blue or Blue/White coming from my transformer. It's encouraging to see that both our shots match. Except for our power bricks being ass-backwards on wiring. Our bricks are reversed on wire colors. Other than that, maybe I caught this before things went south.
