Frogger won't coin up unless I use the Easy Coin Up.

I can't figure this out. My Frogger came with an easy coin up "upgrade" and if I push the button I get credits and the credit meter moves. But no matter what confirmation I put the two wires in on the coin switch I can't get it to coin up. I manually pull the metal switch inside the coin mech and I can hear the switch click.

The "Easy coin up" is wired inline with the wires for the coin mech so if it works, putting a coin in should work.

First can anybody tell me the correct wiring of the coin mech on a frogger? I get 3 volts across the white wire and like I said the easy coin up will make it credit so the pcb should be fine, it has no idea what is going on up front just that its getting a credit.

Any ideas of what to look for. I just can't figure it out.

On the Coin mech Switch look for a Com and a NO Com will be the most bottom one all by itself. The other 2 out the back are going to be labeled NO and NC. You want the NO one.

Just because the switch "Clicks" does not mean it works. the internal contacts may be dirty or corroded and not make contact.

Do you have a Ohm meter with tone? Or any meter??? you can test the switch by using the Lowest Ohm rating on the meter and connect one leg to the COM and the other to NO and press the wire to close the switch. Meter should Beep If tone or go to close to 0.0 Ohms. if it is good.

Yeah... its just a SHORT that makes the game coin up. You can just touch the BLUE and WHITE together and it will coin up. Sounds like something is going on inside the coin mechanism itself. Maybe like DarrenA said , it could have some corrosion in there. Maybe spray a little Deoxit in the coin mechanism and see if that fixes it.

I see no writing on the switch or switch prongs. I hooked it up to ohm meter and it beeps when i click the wire attached to the switch.

When I run a wire from the blue to the white it does not coin up either but the "easy coin up" button works fine.

I've touched the blue and white together and nothing happens. But the Easy Coin Up works perfectly.

You said the Coin-up was in series. Well, depending on how it was wired in, everything else could be bypassed. If it was put in parallel, then the coin switch would still work.

The Photo Shows Parallel.

If it was me I would cut the connections from the white and blue wires, remove the ezcoin and try to connect just the coin mech. The blue and white from the harness. Or before making new connection, tap the blue and white wires together to see if the game coins up. If it does put new spade connectors on the wires and connect to the coin switch and re test. if it works cool, if not you have a switch issue.

He said in-line and my mind went to a series circuit. I did not even bother looking at the pictures.
It is either a bad crimp job or a bad switch.
