Hello, I was fortunate to receive a Frogger arcade standup recently. I had the game restored. The person who fixed the machine said that the audio on the board was "bad." I'm not very technical, but would like to fix the audio if it is as simple as ordering a part and replacing it on the board. Can anyone provide me with advice on what may need replaced on the board, and where I can find that part? The speaker works just fine, as it produces a loud hum while playing, but there is no sound at any time.

I appreciate the assistance.

Hum..

I'm working on fixing my frogger as well for a sound issue. If you log a picture of the board I can tell you the steps I am going through. Please be sure to take pictures of part numbers or anything else to help identify the box / board.

Bad audio amp is a very common failure on Frogger PCBs.

I have yet to see a bad M51516 amp. I just went through a stack of about a dozen frogger boards with sound issues and none had a bad amp. Sure they can go bad but I wouldnt say it was common with them. Actually the most common problems I have seen on them is a bad 2114 ram and 8910's.

I'm going with Riptor, here. A lot of different things can take out Frogger audio....along with what Riptor stated, I'll add......crappy IC sockets, bad PIA's, bad processor, and check the ROMs

For whatever reason the roms they used tend to loose bits. Usually you can reburn the rom without erasing and they are usually good.
