I picked up a Frogger with a dead power supply. Someone clipped the wires with the intention of adding a switcher, but never did. Now I need to know what goes where.

I have 1 red wire, 2 black wires, 2 grey/brown wires, and one orange wire.

Now I assume that the red is +5 and the black is ground, but what about the rest? Any clue. You guys go check your manuals?

REWARD: First person that responds correctly will receive 2 unopened packs of TOPPS Donkey Kong Cards from 1981.

Frogger wiring

Not sure where yours is cut but from the manual the red wire coming out of the transformer says 8.2V, Red/Yellow 0V, Brn 16V, Brn/Yellow 0V, Blk 0V.

I attached a scan of the wiring diagram. Some then go through fuses, some directly to connector P2. That's what I see in my frogger although I haven't checked with a volt meter. From P2 you can see in the diagram where they go to the connector.

Not sure what the weird number/letter scheme is on the final connections but it's not very clear in the scan - From top down= (3,B,4,A,2,D,X,20,C,W,19, 1,14,F,H,T,16,U,17,13,21,12,Y, 22,Z,18,5,6,8,J,9,K,E,7,P,S,V,15,R,10,L,M,11,N)

Anyway, if I can find the data cord for my camera I'll upload some pics of my power supply and wiring.

Those are the respective pins on the edge connectors the wires connect to.

Yeah, I figured they somehow mapped to the edge connector pins but my connector (looks original to me) has nothing on it and the pcb just has a few letters near the traces on the component side, A---E----L----S---W--Z. So, 22 traces per side on the pcb, they don't skip any numbers but they leave out G,I,O, and Q then jumble them all around for the diagram. Wtf?

Yes, I'm talking about the wires that originally connected to P2 on the power supply. I'm not sure this info is directly related to me as I don't have any yellow wiring and it doesnt' mention orange wiring. I can visually follow the wires to the correct spot on the edge connector, but all it says is letters/numbers - it doesn't give me voltages. Also should I just assume that 8.2V= +5, 16V=12V?

If you have a switcher installed in yours then a picture would be AWESOME!

Frogger Power

The one in my garage looks original but the one upstairs looks like it's had a pc power supply grafted on. If the pics come out ok you'll be able to see.

The 3 Red wires from the PS are soldered/taped to the 3 brown wires (all together). This showed exactly +5V. The 3 black wires from the PS attach to 3 black wires from the original game harness. They have 0V (common). 2 go into the same loom as the brown wires and 1 goes left into the little board on the left. Hope this is helpful, I'm not much of an electrician.

I also got some close ups of the transformer and wiring.

My other Frogger doesn't have the little board, the transformer is mounted on the wall, and it has 3 fuses. Must be an earlier/later model. Both Sega/Gremlin.

If the pictures come through tiny again, I can email them to you.

different frogger models

Figured it out (they're not side by side).

My garage model is later (not by much though) s/n and looks like they moved the PS onto the pcb and the transformer onto the wall. Even the edge connectors look different.

I guess it really was the wild west before Jamma.

Btw: From Klov - They did have different pinouts. Looks like I've got one of each. :)

Dude, that is soo wierd. You have 2 different versions, and mine isn't like either of yours. I wonder how many they made. Mine has a power supply pcb in an L shape around the transformer.

You still get the reward for being awesome in your assistance. Not sure if I can fix it yet, but thanks for the effort. PM me your address. :)
