Hello everyone, I have joined this site in hopes that I could possibly get advice on a frogger machine that I have. I have searched the old threads using keywords to see if a similar problem has already been posted. A few similar issues but on different machines, so I decided to post here.
It is a frogger sega/gremlin upright with konami board.
My problem is that sound is existent(usually) when the machine is turned on. After a few minutes of play, the sound stops completely or sometimes it just stops on a single note of the music and holds that note.(It usually just stops completely.) The game play continues just fine.
1. I checked the speaker and it seems to be fine.
2. looked for broken wires and bad connections.
I will greatly appreciate any suggestions/ possible solutions.
Thank you.

Do you have a schematic of the board? look to see where the sound on the board is...

Lots of times when problems start after a few minutes.. they seem to be cold solder joints... can you look closely at the board in the sound area and see any bad solder joints/cracks in the solder?

Be patient.. in a few min's someone who knows will jump in...

Hi thanks for the fast reply. Actually where the wires pertaining to the sound connect to the board, the connections are via some electircal terminal clips(female). Could this be my problem?
Thanks again

I'm posting a manual here for you in case you dont have it..

I was thinking more of a cold solder joint coming from the sound amp area of the board... but it could be anywhere along the sound lines...

oops ! I have the owners manual and schematic for you.. but too big to post here..

if you want to PM me your email.. I will send it that way....

Steve

The manual has a flow chart for sound and it says "the OSC board is faulty"...

still seems like it would be a solder trace/joint that needs to be reflowed...

Hi, Thanks, I believe we have the same manual. On page 7 of the manual Im looking, at the final step in the trouble shooting is the diagnosis of OSC Board Faulty.
One thing I have not checked for is for other bad soldering.
Thank you for bringing this possible solution to my attention.

Yup.. same manual..

You see that the sound is a LM 741 according to the manual on page 17? prob only a few bucks to put a new one in...

Hi, Thank you for pointing this out. I will most likely do this next. I know that these can be ordered online, but are they available at maybe a Radio Shack?
Thank you.

For what its worth mine did the exact same thing it was a ribbon cable as soon as I moved the frog off the sound went. Reseat it and that might take care off it

I will also try this. Thank you for the reply.
