Frogger restoration challenge

You may already know this but just incase you don't that joystick is a Monroe joystick which I assume was original to the Time Pilot 84 kit but is also used on Time Pilot and Gyruss. They are hard to come by and new ones sell for $100.00 so don't throw it away. I am sure you want the correct joystick for Frogger but I would keep the Monroe with the Time Pilot 84 kit. I also have a Frogger I am getting ready to restore. I'll be keeping an eye on your restoration. :)

You have one of these in decent shape, eh? Mine is pretty rusty but works fine. Let me know what your plans are when you get that far. I might be interested, and we are somewhat local to each other.

Cool, thanks man! I'm going to do my best! I'll probably sand down parts of the cab this weekend.I'm still not sure if I will keep the woodgrain sides as they are or not.

I know I could get vinyl woodgrain sides, but doing so would be extra work. The base of my cab does have a chunk missing on the bottom right front side.I'd like to get this thing to look like new,so I'm thinking the whole thing will have to be sanded down and bondoed where needed.

And I'm not throwing anything away.I knew it was worth something. It is in good shape. The only thing I have from the TP84 kit is the board,(which I will sell at some point),the marquee,(which I'm going to keep),the CPO,(trashed),joystick,(will sell at some point) and some makeshift bezel which was taped over the orginal Frogger bezel.(also trashed)

My cabinet is in pretty good shape. The wood grain sides look nice so I think I will leave them original but put the side art on them if it's still available. I also need a CPO and new cardboard bezel.
If you have to paint the cabinet I saw a picture of one painted frog green and it looked sweet with the side art.

Gotcha! Btw,did you see that SA is gonna be back in town may 29th? Hopefully they'll have some good stuff, not that I'll be able to spend much.I'll be going on vacationat the end of June.

Long live Frogger!! I like dedicated machines better, personally.

Your Frogger is in a hell of a lot better shape than mine.

I have noticed many Frogger's with the wood grain cabinets like the one we have appears to never have had side art. Anyone know why? Was the side art something that came later as an aftermarket item or did some come with the side art?
I have noticed the same thing with Donkey Kong. I have 2 without side art.

Kind of wondered that myself.Maybe it was some sort of kit package...i.e..regular and deluxe kits.
Like if you got the regular kit,it didn't come with everything and the deluxe you did.Probably not the case, but just a thought.

I'm sure mine didn't have the side art because it was converted into a Time Pilot 84,but I would think if it did have it at one point, there would be signs signalling that it had been removed, but I don't see any,so I think it may never had any on it.

Either way,the CPO,bezel, and side art will be acquired shortly.
