Planning on restoring my Time Pilot 84 conversion back into the Frogger game it should have stayed.I know the last time I powered it up,there was just one thin vertical line showing on the monitor.Horizontally collapsed I guess is the term. The cab looks good overall, although there is a pretty decent crack in the cab near the marquee. And even though I can't read the serial number on the paper,at least I know what it is.But still..wtf?
Now on to the pictures.

Since every cabinet I've run across has been rough, due to the cabinet materials..I've always wanted to find a totally trashed one, build a new cabinet, and use what repro art is available.

That looks like a good project..good luck.

That looks like a lot of work. Cabinet looks to be in decent shape in pictures, but it's hard to tell. That crack can probably be fixed up to look decent without too much work. I think the biggest problem you have right now is that it's so dang filthy!

i shouldnt be saying this but here goes. First of all good luck wth the resto. 2nd of all I think frogger is a lame game. Howere there are 3 good points to frogger. The first being the seinfeld costanza moment and the last 2 being the froggers that are in our garage lol

Haha! I'm not a huge fan of the game. The goal is to restore it and probably resell it or just trade it for another game.My g/f likes the game,so it may stay here, but I'll probably fix it up and sell/trade it.

Not sure what I'm gonna do with the cab.I figure for the sake of restoring it to it's original state,I'll probably keep the wood grain.

Making good progress on the game. Will take some update pics soon. This may be more work than I originally thought, but I'm determined to see this through.

I have a question for anyone willing to give their opinion about it.At some point someone cut out 2 holes for 2 fire buttons....fire buttons that Frogger never had nor needed. What's the better route to go in patching up said holes? Repair it by welding or by bondo?

Bondo is obviously the easiest, and if you are covering it up with a new CPO, it will look just the same. Unless your machine sees some serious abuse, I couldn't imagine bondo in those holes instead of welded metal being an issue. If you have welding capability and want to do all of that, then by all means go right ahead.

I can weld, but would rather not as I don't have a welding machine myself and would have to use my grandad's which usually is being borrowed by someone most of the time.I've never used bondo, but am interested in using it.

I'll go the bondo route.I'll have some pictures up this weekend. The game should be completely cleaned out by then.

I'm no expert, but I would think taping the back side of the holes, filling them with bondo, and then sanding smooth would go pretty smoothly.

Good luck!

Took a while to take out every screw, nut, and bolt but I got it done. Also cleaned it out,as it was dirty as hell.I'll probably start sanding sometime this week,if I have time.I'm still debating on whether I should sand everything down, paint the cab completely black, and then put some woodgrain vinyl on the sides or just leave the sides as is and just sand the top and portions of the inside of the cab.Decisions decisions...

Not sure if you can really tell in the pics, but it looks like someone tried to break into the cab with a crowbar as the top left of the coin door is bent outward and the front of the cab where that part of the coin door was is bent inward.

You may already know this but just incase you don't that joystick is a Monroe joystick which I assume was original to the Time Pilot 84 kit but is also used on Time Pilot and Gyruss. They are hard to come by and new ones sell for $100.00 so don't throw it away. I am sure you want the correct joystick for Frogger but I would keep the Monroe with the Time Pilot 84 kit. I also have a Frogger I am getting ready to restore. I'll be keeping an eye on your restoration. :)

Cool, thanks man! I'm going to do my best! I'll probably sand down parts of the cab this weekend.I'm still not sure if I will keep the woodgrain sides as they are or not.

I know I could get vinyl woodgrain sides, but doing so would be extra work. The base of my cab does have a chunk missing on the bottom right front side.I'd like to get this thing to look like new,so I'm thinking the whole thing will have to be sanded down and bondoed where needed.

And I'm not throwing anything away.I knew it was worth something. It is in good shape. The only thing I have from the TP84 kit is the board,(which I will sell at some point),the marquee,(which I'm going to keep),the CPO,(trashed),joystick,(will sell at some point) and some makeshift bezel which was taped over the orginal Frogger bezel.(also trashed)
