Does anyone own a Frogger owner's manual?

I know that the game can be set to 3, 5, or 7 frogs, but does anyone know how many the game was originally intended to give with one credit? I see that the official Twin Galaxies settings say 5, but I am wondering if that is correct. Their official Pac-Man settings says 5 lives as well, but we all know that the standard was 3. I think that the 5 lives setting in Pac-Man has something to do with being able to reach the maximum score?

Anyway, I don't recall playing a coin op Frogger back in the day, but just like a Donkey Kong machine was capable of allowing 7 lives, we all know that it's 3 per credit!

So, does anyone know for sure? Was Frogger intended as a 3 life per coin or 5 life per coin game?

The manual doesn't really say what the factory setting on lives per credit is intended to be. I am just wondering if anyone can clearly remembers what most Frogger machines were set to back in the day.

I know that it could have quite possibly varied, but I know now that Donkey Kong can be set to 7 men, but I don't remember ANY DK machones being set to anything other than 3 back in the day.

I always had my Frogger set to three guys, but just recently changed it to 5 since that's the twin galaxies setting. I can only get around 32K points though...

Just by looking at the manual it looks like the default settings are the one where all the switches are set to on which would be three lives. Or you could follow the TG setting which woul dbe five lives.

I love posts like this because nobody answers the actual question!

With that said, I'll try. I always set my frogger to the TG setting of 5 but really think that BITD they must have set it at 3 in the arcades. To your point, 5 is TG for Pac as well but I dont think I've ever seen one 'in the wild' set at 5.

The settings on pac-man were put at 5+1 to enable the top tier players on that title to achieve a "perfect" pac-man. since with the lives given being 5+1 instead of 3+1 every possible point could be squeezed out of the game. With that setting 3,333,360 points can be achieved.

I've played several machines recently, and found them on all 3 settings. The one at Barcade in NY has theirs set to 3. A local classic arcade has theirs set to 5. Another one not too far from me has theirs set to 7. The rest of the machines I've played were set specifically to TG settings, so they were at 5. Also, minor correction, on DK, you can't set it to 7, only 3-6. I can't recall ever seeing a DK set to 4 or 5, but that classic arcade by me has theirs at 6. Most others I remember were all at 3.
