Just picked up a somewhat working frogger. It runs fine on demo mode but as soon as you hit the player one button for a game...the music and game start for about two seconds and then the game screen goes garbled and resets to the demo screen. I checked the power supply and its set right at 5.05. I tried pushing on the chips to make sure they were snugly in their sockets but its still happening. Any suggestions?

Remove the socketed chips, clean the dirty pins carefully and reseat them.

Otherwise this sounds like a bad RAM / ROM issue. Take a couple pics of the screen. Are the images garbled?

There is a tantalum capacitor in the audio section of Frogger that likes to short, it could be that when the music starts it draws too much amperage through that cap and makes it reset, try recapping the sound section.

Current doesn't go "through" caps.
The 6.8uF cap is just DCAP on the -5 rail.

He's got a ram/rom problem.
