In an effort to contribute to this community, I will be chronicling my trials, tribulations, and progress while restoring the Frogger cabinet I picked up a couple weeks back for $100. I will be updating both this post to keep updates together as well as making new posts with pics and progress...

Hopefully this will keep me from getting burned out and help keep this section from getting stale.

Roadmap
* Repair rusted and worn control panel <- 95%
* Fix Horizontal hold issues with monitor <- DONE
* Fix monitor display issues
* Repaint inside sections of cabinet
* Repaint top and back of cabinet
* Install new t-molding
* Repair/Replace monitor bezel <- 95%
* Replace/Repair Marquee light
* Clean/Polish joystick/buttons
* Repair coin mechanism
* Refinish coindoor
* Repair kickpanel
* Install high score kit
* Play lots of Frogger!

Brother dropped off the Frogger cabinet at my house... I start making a list of things to fix... looks like it's going to take a bit of time/effort to get it all done.

I am so tired and incoherent, that when I was looking through your damaged pic photos and saw this one, I thought you were going to mention how the CP was damaged because someone drove over it. I read the caption, and realized that I may be over tired.

Pulled the back off the cabinet today and fixed the horizontal sync issue, but now the screen is a bit wonky at the bottom. Pulling off the bezel reveals that the image is keystoned in the bottom corner. Hopefully, a cap-kit will fix the issue?

Also vaccuumed out all the crud from the cabinet... there was a lot of insulation and cobwebs inside.

Bad news is... coin mechanism is busted on left side...

Called Arcadeshop and placed an order for a repro control panel overlay, repro bezel, cap kit, and high score kit... should ship on Monday. Figure I'll toss in a repro bezel to make things look nice and see if I can recover the old one, but it's pretty rough. While I'm at it, may as well add the option to save high scores, since I plan to play this thing.

Goodies arrive from Arcadeshop (UPS got it here hella fast), so I start stripping the old CPO off of the panel to make way for the new one. Decide I should order t-molding, and do so...

The booty!

T-molding comes in and gets set aside for later...

Coat the control panel in Citristrip and let it sit for a couple hours and try to scrape off the glue... no go. Takes careful application of Goof-Off and a paint scraper to get it mostly off. Still needs to get sanded down.

Sand and scrape the last remaining residue of glue off and get control panel ready for paint. First few light coats of white primer get laid down and left to dry overnight.

Sanded and ready for paint... Top...

Control panel finished drying overnight, so I went ahead with the CPO installation. Everything started pretty smoothly, but the joystick hole is slightly off from where it should be (yet the button holes are perfectly aligned and the joystick bolt holes are almost right). Now I just need to figure out how to hide the bright white sliver in the hole... perhaps some black paint?

Also assembled the new monitor bezel and stuck it in for a test fit (no staples until I repaint the inside of the cabinet)... looks nice, but doesn't 100% match the contour of the current monitor... however, I don't believe it will be noticeable once the machine is closed up and turned on.
