Frogger: My 1st Resto Project

I've been looking for a suitable replacement for the original vinyl on one of these guys for a while (almost a year). I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist.

How is the contact paper holding up? My mother lined some drawers with it once when I was a kid and it peeled pretty bad, so I'm leery. Granted this could have been application error, but still... I worry.

Holding good so far. It isn't lifting up or bubbling anywhere. The weak spots are obviously around the edges where it is most prone to being rubbed/lifted up. It doesn't get real heavy use so not really an issue.

For the $8 it cost for this I am fine with it. If I were doing it again I would add some adhesive spray or contact cement of some sort when applying this vinyl. Just to give it a little more grip for peace of mind.

Also, when applying, I had to do two rows of this in order for it to be wide enough. I didn't have any issues with lining up the seam in the middle. It blends in well with the woodgrain and really is only noticed if you are close and trying to see it. That picture in my post above with the coin door is a good example. The seam is right in the middle, above the middle coin door bolt.

Wow!! That looks fantastic! Where did you get this stuff? Did you have to roll it down once it was put on? How well does it hide any (if any) imperfections of the surface underneath it?

I bought it at Meijer (like a Target or Wal-Mart). I'm pretty sure I've seen it at Home Depot, Menard's and Wal-Mart. It is fairly common and they usually stock a few different colors. It is only about 18" wide though.

I didn't have a roller so I just smoothed it down by hand. Like vinyl or any overlay, the smoother your surface the better, so yes you'll notice any bumps or dents if they are there.

I know most fellow KLOV'ers hate the woodgrain, but I like it as well. It seems to fit with a Frogger machine. I'd keep the original material if you can.

Could'nt love the woodgrain any more, I have bought a generic cabinet because of the woodgrain-texture and have now a Tac/Scan in a convert-a-cab that is also woodgrain-textured. <3
