Hello,

My name is Vibert. This is my first post on this forum and I would like to say hello before I start asking for help.

I bought 2 cabinets over the past weekend, an XYBOTS and Frogger. The cabinet in question is Frogger.

The cabinet isn't an original Frogger. I was able to tell when I saw the machine because it had a "fire" and "bomb" button. The person I bought it from said the monitor eventually became darker until it never turned on again. I brought it home and started up the machine.

The machine plays "blind", which is quite fun if you have a friend to compete with "who makes it the furthest without dying". I read a couple posts on the forum that said that if the neck of the tube glows then I could put in a new "cap kit".

I checked the tube and the neck doesn't glow. I checked the board for the monitor but I can't find a model number to reference for a "cap kit".

So now I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas on where to go next?

Hi welcome to the forum. what you might want to try is take a pic of the chassis from straight on and a couple angles and post them here, myself or one of the others here can help you identify it

the type of chassis isnt on the PCB board. there should be a sticker on the side of the frame that specifies what it might be. if theres no sticker, look in the bottom of the cab, it might have fallen off.
one thing you should be aware of is discharging the monitor so you dont get badly zapped. look here:

also look here for what monitor you might have:

if theres no neck glow, no telling what it could be. look at the flyback transformer and see if its cracked and has goo coming out of it. the flyback has the big red wire with the suction cup going to the tube. also check the fuses on the monitor PCB that would be another place to start.

also, WELCOME TO THE MADNESS!!!

Post pics of the cabinet too. It may be original and just converted.

Mine had a jump button added to it where it had been converted to a Mr. Do!

The one I worked on was a Wells Gardner 4600 type, but since yours might not be original, then I couldn't tell you. Cap kits do wonders, but will not solve 100 percent of problems.

I hate to multi-post but the edit wasn't working for some reason. I've gone through the real bob robert's "what's my monitor" section and still have no luck figuring out what I have. Does anyone have a suggestion of what I have?
