Hi,

I capped the G07 in my Frogger and also replaced the flyback and horizontal width coil...

With the horizontal width coil adjusted to the largest size, there is still about 2 inches of black border. There is burn from the high score and credits that is well past the current position, so this is a new problem.

I adjusted the B+, which was just a tiny bit low. The picture got bigger, but its still outside of the old burn zone. B+ is at exactly 120VDC (on the correct side of the large resistor... the other side is 150something as it should be).

What could possibly be wrong? I'm tempted to crank the B+ a tad more, but I don't want to irradiate myself and others.

Thanks for any assistance.

No, I didn't see the point since its the original monitor and there is no curling. Is there a reason I should do it?

No, I had a G07 do the same thing on a Centipede and thought it was curious. I had done the mod and didn't know if the mod had caused it or something else. If you didn't do the mod, then it must be something else. It's an odd problem that seems to happen with the G07. If you look at pictures on the web you can see the same thing happening to people after they cap the G07.

Yeah, that is the part I don't understand. I can't remember exactly how wide the picture was before I capped it, but I'm pretty sure it was wider than it is now.

When I was capping it, I accidentally broke the horizontal width coil (the plastic was extremely brittle). The ferrite core was still inside but I figured there wasnt enough of the plastic threading to raise it high enough to get a wide picture. I replaced the width coil with a brand new one and raised it until it stopped getting larger, and the picture was still tiny.

After I adjusted the B+ to 120, it was bigger, but not as big as the burn showed... so something is definitely weird.

I'll post results after I replace the width cap, but it might be a little while before I get back to this.

Removing the ferrite altogether would make the picture as big as it'll get.

There has to be something else. I don't think this is a width cap issue, unless the original is /way/ out of spec.

I remembered something else. When I capped this I was also fixing a blown fuse and dead flyback. I didn't realize there was a charge in the giant cap. I set the board down on my bench and part of it touched my vice grips, and there was an very loud arc and smoke.

After replacing everything and recapping it, it worked, so I assumed no damage was done. Now I am wondering if something was damaged that is causing this problem... but I don't know how I'd track it down.
