I have a frogger cocktail that has a frogger character problem. The frog is red and black. When you jump into the road the frog disappears entirely. After you get across the road he appears again in red and black.

I have been looking at the manual,

http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-videogames/F/Frogger.pdf

Around page 14 it talks about troubleshooting the pcb. I have replaced the two character roms @ IC 101 and 102.

I have also replaced the IC's @ 37, 47, 48, 49

Still no luck. Does anyone have any advice? I would really appreciate it!

Crap, the manual has a misprint but I'm not sure which one is right.

http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-videogames/F/Frogger.pdf

On page 65 it lists IC 37 as a 74LS27

On page 69 it lists IC 37 as a 74LS161

I know that I used 74LS161 but I threw away the old chips and I'm not positive that I made sure they matched.

Does anyone have a board that they can take a look at?

Im looking at one right now, its a 161.
Have you tried swapping around the 74s201 rams? I seem to recall them having something to do with colors but its been a while.

Thanks everyone for the help!

The ram was my next guess. Though I wasn't smart enough to think of switching the chips around. I was going to just replace them but switching them is a much smarter idea. If the frog is green and I have a new problem then there's the issue. Thanks for the tip!

I'm on a trip right now but I'll try it tomorrow and let you know how I make out. The trip is to pick up a non working tron cab! :) The guy said they got it for their kids twenty years ago and after they grew up they stopped playing it. They just decided to sell it and when they plugged it in it wouldn't turn on. So if I'm lucky there won't be too much wrong with it. They want $200 and I want a tron cab! :)

hopefully it is just an interlock switch or a fuse but don't try to turn it on in front of the seller. Just get that on your truck as soon as possible.

be sure to add tron to your vaps

Shoot Buffett a PM. He had a frogger that went invisible and was able to fix it. Later he recreated the issue for a tournament style game.

I got it home but man is this thing in rough shape.

The interlock was the problem for the not powering up. Someone had replaced the top back panel with 1/4 inch wood and it had bowed over time from the pressure. The game still has PCB issues but the monitor does come on.
