I think i'm getting close to the proper monitor settings for frogger, but when i get to levels with snakes, they're almost invisible. Sometimes they seem XOR'd with the background.

Any suggestions on what the screen colors are supposed to look like?

TIA, John

well, one thing i would recommend doing is on the monitor, you should have the 3 red, green and blue cutoff pots, on the neckboard. you may need to adjust those, but i generally turn each one until you can see the "shadow" of the color in the background, i.e. a green hue to a black screen, and turn it back till it just goes away. that's what i would suggest.

Snakes are green. Frogger is green. if you can see Frogger you should be able to see snakes...

Interesting. frogger is green on my display & the green timer looks great. but the snake on the bar below the traffic is almost invisible, and the snake on the logs is more apparent in the water than on the logs.

Snakes in the water? Snakes run on the ground between the cars and water, and on the logs. Why would you have snakes in the water?

In general, my colors are very close to the image - except for the snake!

On the ground and on the log, the snake is barely visible, and seems to be XORed onto the screen - i can only see it is there because it is moving and the pattern of surface changes (ground or log). Yes the head protruding off the log shows up a bit better than the area on the log. There are a few times when i've seen the snake mostly off the end of the log in the water and then it is a shade of blue distinctly different than the water and it has red/purple spots.

Hmm. You may have a bad character ROM? Either that or your red is turned up so high it's bleeding over the green?

I thought of popping the character ROM and cleaning/reseating, but haven't done that yet.

the red adjustment you mention - that'd be the cutoff or drive pot?

Either. Do other red, purple, or brown things seem to bleed over onto other objects?

I'd try cleaning that chip...

The objects seem very clear, no bleeding that I can tell.

I'll pop and clean chip and see what happens.

thanks
