Frenzy Express Game

Anybody have either the hard drive or CHD or any form of the hard drive for this game? Previous owner hooked up 12 volts up to the 5 volt slot and it is toasted. It is eventually going to be gutted for its nice 29" VGA monitor but until then it looks like a cool game for my gameroom.

I have that game... really a hard to find one.. want me to make you a copy (chdman) of the "drive" (actually just a memory-board connected to the IDE slot) ?

I'm currently looking for a correct pinout/wiring. Have you some information to share (wiring, manuals...)

I'm guess mine is more hacked together than I thought, it has a hard drive currently attached to it. I will see what I can find on pinouts.

Could also be that mine was converted to use a more reliable chip-drive than a mechanical one. if you could tell me where to attach power and video (e.g. video seems to be clear on the VGA connector), and some of the other connectors, I would be glad to have that. In either way I'm currently dumping the "drive" and will mail you afterwards via PM the location where to grad the .chd. my box has a sticker 'FX: 2002M Ver: 2.1'. maybe you have the same version(?)

I don't currently have the box with me to tell you specifics but I know that the 20 pin part of the connector is the standard PC power connector, the other 4 pin plug is supposed to be the hard drive but IT IS NOT a standard pinout! One of those is 5 volts on the box but a normal power supply puts out 12 volts, this is where the previous owner failed to realize that and killed the drive. If you send me a picture of both the inside and outside of the case I can help you get it hooked up.

I know mine is hacked together in some fashion because the dead drive I have is currently screwed onto the outside of the case with the IDE and power cable feeding into the inside of the case where it has been bent inward to get the cables to feed in. Thanks so much for the CHD.

I have the CHD and I guess I should send it to someone with MAME since they don't have it in their archives. Who would be the person to send it to?

I have the boardset parted from a game I did not test verify yet.
I was told it was good..
not sure if that helps at this point though.

Hi there Guys

I have read this thread a couple of times since first getting a non working frenzy express machine to add to my collection of videos a couple of years ago. I managed to find a working flash drive that I finally tracked down about a year ago & got the machine working! wayhay!!! However in my madness of other projects, completely forgot to make a backup,,,,well I'll re-phrase that to "put off till another day" & in the meantime the case fan has failed and the drive has cooked! thankfully having read the 5v feed issue, I optimistically connected it up in anticipation to a pc & nothing << dead!!!

I can only find the "untested" box that has been on ebay for as long as I've had my machine and knowing my luck it will be as good as the 3 << yes 3 broken ones I have here!

have any of you had any luck getting an image onto a drive & getting the machine going again? and could I possibly get a copy? oh & if anyone needs any spare bits ;) I have about a complete machine that is broken for parts

Many thanks in advance of any help
